I don't know what to say. We're on the third iteration of this trip and we've canceled 3x already. Now this trip is in jeopardy too because my mom's health is bad and getting worse. We don't have to decide yet so we won't, and at least we've learned to buy the damn insurance so it won't be a total loss if we have to cancel, but man, I so want to go. As it is, we may have tickets to Berlin and Copenhagen* to give away because they're not on this iteration of our trip (and I don't remember if we still have tix or got refunds or what) but as a confirmed Europhile and HeAthen, I really want to see the DBT shows in London and Paris** and spend some time in both those cities for the first time in years. Plus my wife's not likely to give me a present like this again anytime soon. Here's hoping...

*If anyone's interested let me know and I'll try to figure out what's what, but no promises.

** Obviously if we do have to cancel, tix for those shows will be available as well.
What used to be is gone and what ought to be ought not to be so hard

According to Matt on Twatter, the band will be backing Jerry Joseph when he opens.
Now it's dark.

Board has been pretty quiet about the Euro tour. Understandable given how many times its been rescheduled and the hassles of traveling at the moment. But Im hoping for great things. Living outside the US I havent seen the boys since 2016. Been eagerly awaiting this tour for three years now. If everything works out should be hitting Cologne, Antwerp, Raalte, Amsterdam, London and Dublin.

Havent seen a setlist for last night in Helsinki yet, but apparently Matt Patton got stuck in Amsterdam so the monitor guy played bass.

Timing of this tour is actually pretty cool with the new album coming out. Looking forward to hearing The Driver live in particular.

While the Stockholm show on Thursday remains shrouded in mystery, here is the setlist from Oslo last night (Friday, May 27-2022):

Jerry Joseph:
Days of Heaven
Ten Killer Fairies
The Jump
Dead Confederate w/Jay and Patterson
San Acacia w/The Stiff Boys

DBTs:
Billy Ringo in the Dark
Slow Ride Argument
Thoughts and Prayers
Ramon Casiano
Puttin People on the Moon
Marry Me
Living Bubba
3DD
The Driver
Every Single Storied Flameout w/horns
World of Hurt
WWW
Sinkhole
Uncle Frank
We Will Never Wake You Up in the Morning
Ghost to Most
LTBR
Zip City
Angels and Fuselage

With the last few days turn of horrible events over in the US obviously still very much on everyones minds the band managed to channel their anger, sorrow and frustration into the performance and blew the roof off the venue. Opening with a brand new song, from an album yet to be released, and in a place you haven't played for over five years, was a bold move by PH, but one that worked beautifully in "resetting" the audience after the full band "teaser" of JJ w/The Stiff Boys final song (San Acacia). From there on we got the full on Rock Show treatment - as should be obvious from the setlist. We brought a few "first timers" and always fun to watch their reactions as they gradually have their faces melted. The fan base keeps growing. Hopefully it won't be five years till next time.

Wait they had horns for one song? Cant say Ive ever heard of them having horns play with them live. Whered they find them in Oslo? Thats very cool.

Based on the very small sample size, they seem to be frontloading their sets with the songs that speak most directly to this moment. Expected nothing less of them. Hope they keep doing that, very much looking forward to a little of that catharsis when they hit cologne.

A couple of the guys in the road crew (who's names escapes me) does double duty and sits in on horns on this song, so you are likely to get to see this in Cologne as well. And I must say they do a pretty darn good job.

They have had horns on few occasions previously as well - on the It's great to be alive album for instance.

The horns are kind of lost in the mix on IGTBA but they're there on a few songs. Just as a historical note, the band also had horns at their New Year's Eve show in NYC at the time of The Big To Do. Currently, if "Every Famous Flameout" is in the set, which it regularly is, it'll be played w/ horns because as noted above, the players are in the road crew. Patterson, if you're out there, 3 words: "Sea Island Lonely."

Still hoping to see some of you on 8 & 15 June, still up in the air.

I love hanging with Europeans but unfortunately I can't make it. Life is being a pain in the arse and getting in the way of rock shows.

Absolutely gutted. Have been looking forward to this for 2-3 years. Hopefully next year I'll do what I was going to do in 2020 and head back to the states for some shows.

Another time pal.

Euro-tour setlists are floating around on facebook. Adding them here as well.

2022-06-06 The Paradiso, Amsterdam

Jerry Joseph
Days of heaven
Tick
Wisconsin death trip
Bone towers W/stiff boys
Dead confederate W /stiff boys
San acacia w/stiff boys

North Mississippi All-Stars
(Clueless) Various blues tunes in the key of A, Bb, E, D etc... Great band, and tons of fun.

DBT
Billy Ringo
Slow Ride Argument
Thoughts and Prayers
Ramon Casiano
Lookout Mountain
When the Pin Hits the Shell
DIY
Gravity's Gone
The Driver
Every Single Storied Flameout
Mercy Buckets (Dedicated to Thomas Olivier - local tour manager from way back when)
Ghost to Most
Grand Canyon w/Luther Dickinson
First Air of Autumn
We Will Never Wake You Up in the Morning
WWW
Hell No I Aint Happy w/Jerry Joseph
Shit Shots Counts
Why Henry Drinks
Marry Me
LTBR
Zip City
Angels and Fuselage

This was my first time at this great venue. My only tiny little complaint being that the stage is very high. The sound wasn't great at the rail but it was loud enough! Great show altogether with the bonus of the last minute NMA being added to the bill. Doors were at 5-ish pm and the show was over at 11-ish pm. Six hours standing up was about on the limit of what my feet could take.

Chalk, Brighton

Jerry Joseph:
Suppers Ready
The Jump
I’m in love with Hiram Black
San Acacia
Wisconsin Death trip
(no stiff boys)

DBT:
Shake and Pine
Birthday Boy
Righteous Path
Where the devil don’t stay
Tornadoes
Ghost to Most
The Company I Keep
Love like this
The Driver
Every single storied flameout
Sinkhole
Uncle Frank
Used to be a cop
WWW
Club 13
Maria’s aweful disclosure
We will never wake you up …
First air of autumn
LTBR
Marry me
Grand Canyon

Great venue, smaller one with a "club" feel to it with a low and rather intimate stage. Sound was excellent throughout the show. The band had been passing through customs/border from the continent over to UK during the night and were reportedly a bit tired, which may explain their absence from the JJ set, but once they got started there were no sign of any tour-fatigue.

Kentish Town Forum, London

Jerry Joseph:
Days Of Heaven
Wisconsin Death Trip
Bone Towers (with The Stiff Boys)
Dead Confederate (with The Stiff Boys)
San Acacia (with The Stiff Boys)

Drive-By Truckers:
Billy Ringo
Slow Ride
Thoughts & Prayers
Ramon Casiano

Rosemary Bible & Gun

Ronnie & Neil
Women Without Whiskey
Hell No (w Jerry)
Marry Me
Wake You Up
First Air
Let There Be Rock
Maria's Awful Disclosure
Play It All Night Long
Zip City
Angels & Fuselage

Oh-boy! London got a proper rock show this evening. The Stiff Boys were back behind JJ again. Great pacing. London loves DBT and DBT loves London!

Have been wondering about the term Horse Farm Drunk since I first heard Club XIII, but we got a thorough demonstration by a couple of (I presume local) lads quite early on into the DBT set. They were soon taken care of by the crowd management crew and escorted out of venue.

Thanks for these!

There is a story around "horse farm drunk." I can't remember the details just now but I bet tc or jonicont or many of the other usual suspects will know.
