Anyone else notice the different sequencing on the release from the original show?
What got me thinking about it was at the end of Feb14, Patterson introduces the "Stroker Ace, Mike Cooley", then it immediately goes into Aftermath USA, another Patterson song... I tried checking the One Of These Days site, but I get prompted for a UN/PW...?

Here is the original track listing on the left, re-release on the right. I recently re-listened to the original show, seems seamless. so I believe it to be correct.

There's also a couple of things that were edited out of the new release. The show was on or around Cooley's birthday and the singing of Happy Birthday to You was edited out. A story by Patterson was also removed and so was Jay Leavitt's intro to World of Hurt.

Agreed. Lots of talk was edited out that gave a lot of context to the show.

The same thing was done with the Shoals Hood-Cooley-Isbell show, most between song talk was cut.

I understand it, the Plan 9 show would've been a 3 lp release with all the banter, possibly the Shoals show too.

The banter is my one of favorite parts of live DBT albums; particularly the recordings of the Homecoming shows. The banter always makes me think, “oh yeah, I remember that!”

On one hand excluding the banter probably makes the record more accessible to new, more casual DBT fans. However I’m left wondering how many mild/moderate fans does the band have? Very few people who are familiar with the band seem ambivalent regarding Drive by Truckers, and I would assert most folks fall into three camps: 1. Never heard of DBT, 2. Know the band but don’t enjoy DBT, or 3. DBT is the person’s favorite band and they travel often, or at least pine to travel everywhere to see the band.

With that said, I wonder how much including a the banter, thus causing an increased price, would effect sales. The steaming variable must be considered as well.

All considered, I’m listening to the recording as I’m writing and just kicking myself for not getting into the band a little earlier. I think that my first show was ‘08. Happy Saturday, my friends!

I started going to shows in 2004, not so sure that was a good thing. Being Wild and undisciplined for years was almost the death knell. I think that was also true for the band. DBT headlined Telluride Bluegrass fest in '06, sunday night. Most had left, leaving a hardcore party of hardcore fans. It was debauchery the likes of which were only matched by a run at the 40 watt later that year. Its amazing the isbell era lasted as long as it did really.
