DBT spotting

Post by chuckrh »

I'm reading the latest Gray Man book "Relentless". Much to my surprise, while the hero/anti-hero is in the hospital near the beginning it mentions that he is listening to DBT. When his boss comes to visit & says it's county music, Gray Man tells him emphatically that it is not country. The author is Mark Greaney. Must be a fan. Nice to have a shout out in a bestselling novel.

Very cool.

Stephen King has done similar things. One was a character named Dickey Betts in Rita Hayworth And Shawshank Redemption. Another was a mention of fictional character Jack Reacher in Under The Dome. And in another book, perhaps 11/22/63, someone enters a bar and describes the scene with "almost correct" lyrics something like "There was a band called the Jokers playing. They were really laying it down."
