I haven't really been here since summer, but I'm watching this show, Shrill, which resonates with me a fair amount as I know a lot of hipster journalists.
And there's a party scene in which an intro to a song starts and I'm like, "I love this song. What is it? That guitar sounds fantastic!" (I would be so useless at Name that Tune. It always takes way me too many seconds to recognize something.)
And then John Cameron Mitchell comes out and sings Moonage Daydreem and I watch it 4 times because it's so beautiful. And then I google it because I'm kinda desperate to know the specifics.
Turns out Jay Gonsalez did the guitars and helped rework the song for the scene.
Gorgeous work, Jay.
It's the kind of thing I can imagine David Bowie and Mick Ronson listening to in the afterlife and one looks at the other and says, "Very nice." And the other replies, "Yeah, really nice."
I hope that means something because because I love them both so much.
