Not sure how they came up with this but I agree with #1.
Only one song from the last few albums.

and the rest as they say is uh er uh, well somebodies history somewhere?
Re: Paste best top 15 songs by DBT
I enjoyed the individual write-ups, but would have had a very different list.
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

I knew I would hate the list (you know - cause it's Paste) and I did.

By the time you drop them I'll be gone

Each of us would come up with a different top 15 and that one's as good as any

I would assume many of us here have formed our opinion based on live performances. Have no idea how well these people know the band, but I suspect an "albums only" reference here.

Would any of us have "Wig" on our list though? I mean, REALLY?Clams wrote:Each of us would come up with a different top 15 and that one's as good as any

Maybe. It's definitely the best of the three preacher-killer songs. I like it a lot.Zip City wrote:Would any of us have "Wig" on our list though? I mean, REALLY?Clams wrote:Each of us would come up with a different top 15 and that one's as good as any

Maybe not top 15 but top 25 for certain. It's a great song.Zip City wrote:Would any of us have "Wig" on our list though? I mean, REALLY?Clams wrote:Each of us would come up with a different top 15 and that one's as good as any
My objection to this list is the omission of The Living Bubba which would probably be #1 on my l;ist or at least tied with Zip City. The shocking inclusion here is A Blessing and a Curse. By no means bad but I've never heard anyone express it as one of their favorites.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

I'll recommend an experiment: If you use a form of music player that shuffles*, put "A Blessing And A Curse" into a random shuffle and see how it sounds out of context of the record. I was surprised how I felt about it out of that context.LBRod wrote:Amen, TC.Tequila Cowboy wrote:[

Even though it doesn't make my Top 15, I dug the inclusion of ABAAC. It's a bad ass song that doesn't get enough love from anyone in the DBT community (the band included).

I think this is probably correct.RolanK wrote:I would assume many of us here have formed our opinion based on live performances. Have no idea how well these people know the band, but I suspect an "albums only" reference here.
Because everyone is right that each of us would have a different list anyway, I dug this list because it included Wig (you gotta be kidding) and ABAAC (huh! let me think about that a little and re-listen). Nothing wrong w/ being prodded a little bit.
What used to be is gone and what ought to be ought not to be so hard

FWIW here's one of the comments when this list made it to the DBt facebook group....
Patterson Hood "I kinda dig that list. The remarks are pretty good too."

Yep, awful. Bottom 10 DBT song. The music is a wandering, no-melody mess. There's no hook. It's an instant skip each time.Tequila Cowboy wrote:Awful? Seriously?Zip City wrote:Wig is awful, and I don’t eat boogers. So there!dime in the gutter wrote:i, too, kinda dig this list.

Re: Paste best top 15 songs by DBT
I'm not sure I'd put Wig in the Top 50 DBT songs, but I never regret playing it through. The guitar work and story are great. The complete lack of a hook can be a problem, but that really depends on mood.

To put this in proper context, just remember Zip also hates One of These Days.

True but bottom 5 is head scratching to me. It's all subjective though so no worries. For the record though, One of these Days is in my top 10 Cooley songs for sure, probably top 5.Zip City wrote:Bottom 5 Cooley song is still better than 95% of the songs in the world, so...

Off the top of my head in no particular order, Pulaski, The Weakest Man, Get Downtown, Hearing Jimmy Loud and Eyes Like Glue although I really don't dislike any of those either but if I have to list the bottom that's pretty close.Zip City wrote:Out of curiosity, what would be your bottom 5?Tequila Cowboy wrote:True but bottom 5 is head scratching to me. Well, to be fair, my “bottom 5” comment was 8 years ago. If I remade the list, I doubt One if These Days would be in the bottom 5
