Is that the song Jay inadvertently included the chords for in the auction?

This is a bit like Led Zep and Houses of the Holy isn't it?

Left the title track off the album, then it turned up later on a different album.

And to some degree King Crimson with the album Starless and Bible Black which has an instrumental by the same name, then on the next album Red a song called Starless where the words "Starless and Bible Black" appear in the lyrics.

I haven't been to the Rock Show in a while, and last night in Philly was smoken. The new stuff live was outstanding. And, it was great to see all you Rock n Roll Warriors again. The drive was long, my knee is killing me, and I can't hear out of my left ear, but it was all worth it. Shit, I'm getting old, see you Saturday at the Rock Show.

God damn that was fun. Agree with GangGreen.
Been awhile for me for a rock show too, finally breaking the string of solo and Dimmer Twins shows...
One of my favorite DBT shows. Something about that room, seems a perfect venue for them.
Show just smoked from "Slow Ride" on, only briefly slowing down for "Sounds better In The Song" (a nice treat) and "Thoughts And Prayers".
The new songs fit in real well and I really enjoyed the arrangements. Honestly, still on the fence with "The Unraveling IS Happening"...

Really dug Buffalo Nichols too. Had a more bluesy White Stripes vibe to me. Guy can pick a guitar. I'll definitely be looking for his music in the future.

Looking forward to Saturday Night.

Random thoughts on the Union Transfer show:
*This was the best sounding DBT show I've ever seen.  My group was dead center about 4 rows back, and the sound was crisp and loud and you could hear every instrument, every note.  Really good work by the DBT crew and the venue on the sound.
*Last night was a ROCK show from start to end.  Only played a handful of slower songs like Made UP English Oceans and Thoughts and Prayers, and even those rocked hard.
*The new songs are already coming into their own.  I thought Cooley's two new songs and Patterson's Armageddon and Rosemary were all particularly good.
*Jay Gonzalez and EZB were outstanding last night.  Jay doing double duty on guitar and keys all night (sometimes both at once) and Brad pounding like a sledgehammer but never overdoing it, Charlie Watts style.  As I said, it was a hard rocking show and EZB was holding court.
*Cooley only played Ghost to Most once.
*Matt sounded great on The Unraveling.  I thought it sounded much better than that video clip I saw from two nights before.  Funny moment when they had to restart the song after about 90 seconds due to Patterson fucking up his guitar part.
*The new amped up version of Goodes Field Rd was stellar and was the perfect follow up to Uncle Frank.
*Was my first time seeing Karmadog (Rob) in a long time.  He was there with his sons.  He was on the rail in front of Cooley and I was behind him to his left and he obviously didn't know I was noticing, but you couldn't help but see the smile on his face all fucking night long.  His face literally lit up when they played the older stuff like Play It All Night Long and Ronnie and Neil.  Was so great to see his reactions.
*With the exception of 3dd, the last 8 songs of the night came from SRO
*Awaiting Resurection has already become the beast that we all were hoping and knew it would be.
*Sounds Better in the Song--->Living Bubba, goddam.
*Union Transfer is my favorite venue in Philly (World Cafe Live a close second) and DBT has really raised the roof all three shows they've played there (2016, 2018 and 2020).
*Philly soft pretzels were delivered.
*The crowd seemed kinda restrained most of the night until the end of the show when folks started letting loose a bit.  Or maybe I'm just used to the 40W homecoming crowds being so amped up.
*Hometown shows are the best. Always great to catch a show with my wife, plus a great mix of friends from home and heathens. I even bumped into the kid who works at my local fly shop and he was shitfaced, lol.
*The dedication before Dead Drunk & Nekkid was the icing on the cake last night.
*I thought Buffalo Nichols was fantastic.  He's a really great finger picker and slide guitar player.  His own songs sounded great even if the lyrics were kinda hard to decipher, but I could listen to him play that Hank Williams cover on that gorgeous dobro guitar all night long.  Great opener and I'm looking forward to seeing him again this weekend in DC.
*Man I just love the Drive By Truckers, going to the rock shows and hanging with you heathens.  The best.  Always go to the show! See you all in Washington!

as much fun as it is to argue with Clams, I have to agree with his summary/synopsis/observations.

Some additional comments:
* Patterson knows how to make an entrance, and was clearly ready for a Philly crowd. I couldn't quite hear/lip-read his comments addressing the crowd when he took the stage, but it was enthusiastic, with arms raised, and ended with a loud "...Philly, motherfuckers"
* I was not prepared for the contrast between 3 straight "nearly fan-club-only" shows at the 40-Watt and a "regular crowd" in terms of enthusiasm and singing. On the other hand, it was really nice to hear the band sing "unaccompanied"
* Seeing Tyler on the rail in his "Always Go To The Show" shirt next to someone in a "Hood/Cooley 2020" shirt gave me a tremendous sense of pride
* Patterson's dedicating "Dead Drunk and Naked" to "David and his lovely wife" was really nice, and marked a clear turn in their relationship, as he only referred to him as Clams in the past (although not the most romantic dedication?!?)
* Between the sound system, large/clean bathrooms, multiple bars, free on-street parking, and nearby eateries, Union Transfer is by far the best venue in Philly to see live music

Sorry I won't be in DC, but have fun!
We got messed up minds for these messed up times...

As a railbird retiree, I must comment on the light show/crew. From the soundboard, they were exceptional.

Dittos to all of the other thoughts.

That run of SRO songs was masterful.

On to the best rock club in the Northeast.

Wow, what a show in Philly last night! It’s been several years since I’ve been to a show, probably Big to do tour....the band, their crew, the shows, and friends that have shared the experience with me in the past mean so much to me. Last night was a little emotional but I’m glad I finally went. Thanks to Luke for remembering my buddy Joe and raising a toast to him. This band has always attracted great people, thier fan base is unlike any others. It was great to see Clams again, safe travels to DC brother.
The sound quality was the best I’ve ever heard and the set list was excellent. I’m really digging the new album and can’t wait to get my ass to another show. I’m really glad these guys have been able to persevere, stay relevant and continue to write great songs. Tonight I will raise a glass to those who have passed on, to the memories and to the future. Cheers!

I used to listen to his podcast. I loved it. They haven't released one in a long time though, at least not on the podcatcher I use.

I wish Cooley would mix it up a little. He just has too many incredible songs that are collecting dust to exclusively play the same 10-15 tunes each night. Saw a couple wonderful renditions of SDZ this summer in Toronto- band had a great time playing it and the crowd ate it up. Just wonder why a song like that pops up and smokes for a couple shows, then disappears outside of solo shows.

I get he’s the artist and can do whatever he wants. Just sayin :)

It sort of reminds me of what I heard MCMURTRY say once as the crowd was yelling out requests....”some of you know what you want to hear, and some of you know what you’re going to hear”.

Then again one could probably draw several similarities between McMurtry and Cooley.

It's not just Cooley. Hood's variety isn't much more diverse. The post-Homecoming shows have had a narrower set of songs than we're used to seeing (which isn't a negative when the band is promoting a new album).

By my count, they've played 7 shows after Homecoming. They've opened with Made Up English Oceans/Rosemary/Slow Ride/Heroin Again four shows in a row, and have closed with Angels and Fuselage four straight times.

The play count starting with the Carrboro show:

18 Wheels of Love
72 - 3
Angels and Fuselage - 5
Armageddons Back in Town - 6
Awaiting Resurrection - 6
Babies In Cages - 3
Birthday Boy - 2
Company I Keep
Darkened Flags on the Cusp of Dawn - 3
Days of Graduation - 6
Dead, Drunk & Naked - 3
First Air of Autumn - 2
Ghost to Most - 7
Goode's Field Road - 4
Gravity's Gone - 5
Grievance Merchants - 7
Guitar Man Upstairs - 3
Hell No I Ain't Happy - 2
Heroin Again - 7
The KKK Took My Baby Away - 3
Let There Be Rock - 3
Living Bubba - 3
Lookout Mountain - 3
Made Up English Oceans - 7
Marry Me - 2
Once They Banned Imagine
Play It All Night Long - 6
Ramon Casiano - 4
Righteous Path - 2
Ronnie and Neil - 6
Rosemary With a Bible and a Gun - 7
Sands of Iwo Jima
Shit Shots Count - 5
Slow Ride Argument - 6
Shut Up and Get On The Plane - 4
Sign of the Times
Sinkhole - 4
Sounds Better in the Song
Surrender Under Protest - 4
Tales Facing Up
Thoughts and Prayers - 7
Three Dimes Down - 5
Tornadoes - 2
Uncle Frank - 5
The Unraveling - 3
Where the Devil Don't Stay - 3
Women Without Whiskey - 5
A World of Hurt
When the Pin Hits the Shell
Zip City - 4

----------------

They've played 50 unique songs over those 7 shows.

What a great night. The show peaked three times - when Patterson played PPOTM, when he played I'm Eighteen and again when he played People Who Died at the end.

My only issue about last night at the 9:30, there were no many people, I became more concerned more about staking my territory in the upper deck than which socializing with my 3DD Brethren. Also, At 57 years old, I'm thinking I'm getting too old for the DBT at 930 Club grind. But, then Patterson, who is only a few years plus years younger than me, can dance around the stage for two plus hours a night, night after night night, and finishing with one of my favorite songs from high school, People Who Died, while helping me forget about about my aching knees and lower back. Let's just say, I'm with him for the long haul. Resistance baby.
