Last year I pretty much mortgaged 2020 to get the "yes" on 2019, but bought FRI and SAT just in case the stars align, and all set on refundable Courtyard.

Hoping to get at least one night this year....and really want to see the Dexateens. We'll see how the Thursday tickets are selling.

Agree with all who have marveled at the Wes art for this year. Badass. Starting to get in the spirit! :D

If bankers can do it, you can too. Roll it forward, re-finance that mortgage to a later date! Looking forward to seeing you there.

Last year I took a fair amount of grief for predicting that homecoming tix would become increasingly difficult to obtain which would create a lot of stress and disappointment and eventually require changes to at least some aspects of homecoming. That trend continues and will get worse. Selling out a date in less than an hour is the stuff of arena rock gods, and nobody deserves it more than our boys. But...

But like those arena rock gods, the band is going to have to do more to insure accessibility and fairness as demand continues to grow and as more people come for more nights (the number of people who now automatically pencil these dates in for all or part of their annual vacations is astounding, and wonderful). It will literally take months of planning to figure this out and I hope the band, its management and the 40 Watt take this seriously enough to do that planning and to be creative in coming up with solutions.

Just for starters, the pre-sale needs to be completely re-thought and if not sensibly revamped perhaps eliminated. Whether and how to offer 3 nite pkgs is another conundrum that needs to be addressed because accommodating the many fans who would like that option means cutting into overall ticket availability and fairness of access to those tickets.

I don't think there is a perfect solution that will satisfy everyone. The fundamental issue is that demand will soon exceed supply and the supply is not changing anytime soon as Patterson has already definitively stated that homecoming will stay at the 40 Watt, which I totally get. But that means spreading a fixed supply over growing demand, which is not an easy task and one which, imho, should not be left to market forces. In that context, the band should be commended for keeping ticket prices as reasonable as they are; clearly they could bump the price without too much impact on demand, so thank you for that, whoever in DBT land decides such things.

If anybody else would enjoy kicking around theoretical fixes I'd be happy to participate in a thread on that subject.

I suggest a "literacy test" based on original 9 Bullets membership to restrict carpetbaggin' interlopers from snatching up tickets.

We managed to get tickets for all three nights. This will be our first homecoming. We have our flights and hotels booked and couldn't be any more excited.

I can only think of two things that could possibly be fixed:

1. Remove the presale. It's pointless.
2. Offer a 3-day pass, even if it's for the exact same amount that 3 seperate tickets would cost. Last year the 4-day pass was a significant savings.

As for the major issue of demand far exceeding supply I'm not sure much can be done. I think at best they can try to keep scalpers from buying up tickets, but I'm not sure that is a huge issue at this time. I know they show up on secondary tickets sites but so far not in large numbers. I suppose they could go to the old Grateful Dead system of a ticket lottery but I think that would be a step backwards.

In closing, I got nothin’

The venue isn't going to get any bigger, they aren't going to move to another room. The only other change they could make, maybe, would be to do as they did at Brooklyn Bowl in the summer, two 3 night runs. I'm not sure even that would solve the issue as pretty sure there's a good number who would endeavour to just do the whole 6 nights.

If the demand increases but the band won’t move venues, then it’s an “issue” of their own making. They will continue to sell out all three nights, so maybe it’s not an issue at all
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

That's pretty reductive, zip. I don't think one has to have been to homecoming to understand that it is more than the sum of 3 shows and that remaining at the 40 watt is an attempt to recognize and retain that "more."

The issue is not whether people will come to the shows, nor is it whether the band can sell out the 3 shows. The issue is really the same as above, i.e. can homecoming retain its special flavor if not everybody who wants to go can go and if the difficulty in obtaining tickets starts to undermine the positive nature of the event.

Now who’s being reductive? Your post reads like there are people buying tickets who don’t want to go, or that there are fans who deserve to be there more than others.

I can't help how you read my post but I don't even understand how you got from what I wrote to what you read. I can't even guess where you get the first part from. I can guess about the second part and my reference to the difficulty in obtaining tickets was not meant to suggest that some people deserve tickets more than others but that it will be harder to maintain a positive, open vibe if ticket buying becomes competitive.

Just for yucks, from something I started to post earlier but then decided not to:
scotto wrote: I suggest a "literacy test" based on original 9 Bullets membership to restrict carpetbaggin' interlopers from snatching up tickets.
I know your suggestion is offered tongue in cheek but I think it's worth recognizing that the dread veteran v. newbie tension inherently lurks under the surface. IMHO both groups have legit claims on scarce tickets. Favoring one or the other risks undermining some of what makes HC great.
