I know this was done in jest (though it seems like low-hanging fruit- if you're gonna bash us, get creative, DO BETTER!), but the questions still stands: is this really how "outsiders*" see us?

Apologies if this is meme is old news, I just saw it for first time

Lol. Sort of, yeah. I agree it’s low hanging fruit and somebody more creative or funnier could have done more with it. It’s kind of funny but not all that clever.

Who cared about us enough to make this? And why didn't they do a better job? And why didn't they at least use an actual DBT "resist" shirt for that particular picture?

They got me with the vape juice and tattoo. I can't grow a beard, and I'm too tired to actively resist these days.

Huh. Can you tell how long this has been around, 'cause it's the first time I've heard of it too. I agree w/ all the other comments re lack of cleverness, etc etc and wonder why anyone would bother to do this.

Of all the things they could use to make a meme about DBT fans and that's what they come up with? That's weak.

DBT’s Hood announces follow-up record plans, possible relocation to Caribbean

this one's even lazier, more stupid, and with lower hangin' fruit. The only reason I am even sharing it is the last part, in which caused a chortle or two:

Which is why the singer – who relocated here from Athens, Ga. just one year ago – is moving his musical base of operations yet again. “The Wednesday after the election, I was already writing songs for a follow-up record, lots of Woody Guthrie-type, anti-capitalist stuff. Hang on,” Hood says, scanning a text message on his iPhone 7. “When Commandante passed, I knew we had to get in the studio like, now, and do it in [expletive] Havana.”

Not only did he book a week in the prestigious and state-run Muerte a America recording studios; Hood, his wife and two young children will also take up residence in the romantic Caribbean capital. “She found us a 1 ½ bedroom flat a quarter mile walk from the bread store,” he says. “Eight bucks a week! And I’ve shipped a couple pallets of bottled water, and we’re all taking Cipro, so we’re set. Hang on. Gotta take this.”

-------

Hood is at first mum about how much of his plan he’s told his band mates. When pressed, he ‘fesses up. “Look, I haven’t told Cooley yet, okay? Marlboro Reds are $80 a pack there,” Hood says. “That’s almost double what they are here in Portland. It’s the cost of living in a free country, I guess.”

I didn't even realize that DBT was well known enough for it's fans to have detractors.

My guess is that it was done by a DBT "fan" who got off the train when they became "too political."

I would politely request that the author of that screed fold it until it is all corners and then stick it where thoughts and prayers go--and I don't mean heaven.

"I don’t want there to be any doubt as to which side of this discussion we fall on," Hood says. "I don’t want there to be any misunderstanding of where we stand. If you don’t like it, you can leave. It’s okay. We’re not trying to be everybody’s favorite band, we’re going to be who we are and do what we do and anyone who’s with us, we’d love to have them join in."

Mike Cooley is somewhat more direct. "I wanted this to be a no bones about it, in your face political album," he says. "I wanted to piss off the assholes."

If that's the worst someone could come up with, I think we're alright folks. I dont think I've ever seen non-thc vape shit at a DBT show either. They left out the doobie and PBR, though.

I have. The night Patterson premiered The Guns of Umpqua, there was a guy just behind the railbirds who was blowing huge clouds of vape smoke onto the stage. It was pissing Patterson off. I'd have to check the recording to see if he said anything.

I don't know if you can get it in cans, but Pabst at least used to make a dark beer. I got totally shitfaced for the first time on a mountain in Wisconsin on that stuff and it tasted pretty good.

Speaking of that, this is probably as good a place as any to ask this. Does anyone have the $3.00 "Contour Cut Flying Cooley Bird Sticker" from the DBT website?

This one: https://drivebytruckers.shop.musictoday ... p=407_2867

If so, I have a question - is it all black, or is there a white outline around it?

I know, I know - for three bucks, just order it and find out, but I thought someone here might know. Thanks.
