September 27-28, 2019 Princess Theatre Decatur, Alabama

Bryan bought us tickets for this show months ago; he was able to buy them when they went on sale. Ahh, the life of retirement. We are going down after I’m done with work on Friday and are attending both shows?

I kept waiting to see a post on here regarding the shows, but then I figured the theatre was so small and Decatur is so remote that we may not see many familiar faces.

I think we’re at the Doubletree Riverfront which is relatively close.

Any suggestion of what to eat/do while in Decatur???

Because I live in the Memphis area, I don’t often seek out bbque when traveling...same with fried chicken. I live about ten minutes from the Gus’s Chicken in Mason. I would, however, enjoy breaking bread with you esteemed fellows so much that it wouldn’t matter what we eat!

As I was taking the kid and the kid's friend home from our trip to the Ryman for birthday/Father's Day stuff, we got directed around a wreck on I-40, which took us through Mason. I insisted we stop--not hard, since I was driving--turn around, and let me buy them lunch. It did not disappoint.

I think that Bryan and I are still coming into Decatur in a week, but this will definitely be a different rock show experience for me.

See my post on “Big Life Changes” in Everything Else” for an explanation.

Hopefully I’ll see some heathens in a week!

Also, there is a Big Bad Breakfast in Florence, and this is a great place to eat if our trip is planned at the right time.

Another great show. I didn’t setlist it, but they opened with Birthday Boy and ended with Hell No into Sign o’ the Times and then burned the place down with three guitars at the end. Smitty got a birthday shoutout going into Alice Cooper’s 18. We got a lot of SRO tonight. Standouts for me were Sands of Iwo Jima and Company I Keep.

Met folks I’ve seen at HC but never formally met. Had a great time with old Rock Show friends. Fun was had by all.

The Princess Theatre was on of the more, if not the most, intimate venues in which I’ve seen the band. One of my favorite aspects was the massive shadows the lights made of Cooley and Patterson on the side walls.

This weekend was a great time with great friends...oh yeah, and some great music too. Thanks, y’all!

I forget whether it was during Let There Be Rock or Hell No I'm Not Happy/Sign O' The Times, and I don't know whether it was accidental or deliberate, but there was an effect that put big swirling colorful circles around the heads of their shadows, and it was awesome!

Had a great weekend. Mini road trip with Schlanky,Beaverdam and his f-in-law with Bill Kingery driving and me
Navigating. Lots of laughs. Quite a few other Heathens in attendance. It was Smitty’s Bday—and you could tell. Played some excellent sets too

And I’m only now realizing that I was in the presence of Wes Byers and (I think also) Amy D'Andrea Byers and failed to meet them. Crap. Next time. — with Cody McKelvey.
