P Hood's Mt Rushmore

Post by Clams »

Cross posting from the DBT facebook group...

Image

Which four songs belong on Patterson's Mt. Rushmore?? Way too many perfect songs to choose from but yall know the rules: 4 and only 4. (Btw don't blame me for that, blame the folks who built Mt Rushmore!)

I'll go with Living Bubba, Heathens, Grand Canyon and What It Means.

Results in a few days. Photoshop credit to the phungi.

First 2 were easy. The next two, well I guess it would go too far to say they're random, more like indistinguishable in their worthiness from maybe ten others. And that's w/ refusing to consider Hood's solo stuff This is hard enough as it is.

Living Bubba
Righteous Path
Grand Canyon
(Something's Got To) Give Pretty Soon

Yes, I just did that. I just made a list of Patterson's greatest songs that doesn't include Let There Be Rock. Or Lookout Mountain. Or...or...or...

Heathens>Sounds Better in the Song>(Something's Got To) Give Pretty Soon is one of the most incredible triptyches in rock. Just amazing and it never grows old.

Does it count though since it’s Hood and Cooley? Regardless it’s one of my absolute favorites

Good catch, I didn't realize that, I always thought of it as a Patterson song.

I almost went with Goodbye. Easily Hood’s best song that never gets performed live.

Yep. I believe it was on the bus in Europe. Maybe the only song they’ve written together.

One of my favorites but you’re clearly not a fan. To each their own.

Might not want to tell UR or CG though, pretty sure it’s their favorite song

To each their own, indeed. It's funny how we can nearly all agree on The Living Bubba's and Zip City's of the world, but on others, we are worlds apart.

To me, Girls Who Smoke is Bottom 10 Patterson song, but opinions are like (old) assholes

I thought it was more Patterson cataloging Cooleyisms than a proper co-write; Pollyanna is credited Hood/Cooley though iirc

anyways,

Heathens
