What four songs should be on Cooley's Mt Rushmore?? You can pick four and only four. I'll tally up in a day or two. My four: Women Without Whiskey, Zip City, Uncle Frank, Ramon Casiano. Mt. Hood coming in a few days. Photo credit to phungi.

Zip City, Marry Me, Carl Perkins’ Cadillac, Women Without Whiskey

Of course, this is the kind of list that could change tomorrow depending on how I wake up feeling.
Turn it up to 10 and rip off the knob

Not so impossible, you got 2 out of 4 right and were close on the other two! :D :D

WWW,
Ramon
Zip
One of these Days

strongly considered, but ended up 5th, 6th and 7th on my list:

Devil
Frank
Carl Perkins

Ramon Casiano being picked ahead of many other songs seems like you are all pulling a giant prank on me. This can't be serious

I picked it because (a) it's as good as anything Cooley's ever written (ie, it's in the top tier) and (b) I wanted one song to represent the modern era of DBT.

I'm definitely blaming you for this one, clams. You are flat out diabolical. Plus it raises once again the burning question of why we all care so much about such things.

Zip City
Space City
Daddy's Cup
Surrender Under Protest

And before you ask zip, while I, too, was motivated in part to include something more recent, I will defend Surrender as among Cooley's best songs to anyone who cares to argue the opposite. It is the equivalent of Uncle Frank, i.e. a brilliant "history song" that says more in a 3 minute record than anything we were ever taught in school.

The number of great songs this list (like all of them) leaves out is just staggering.

Funny, I've used the exact same Uncle Frank analogy for Ramon. Extra points for the excellent springsteen reference, bubba.

LOL, proving my own point, after much agonizing I had actually decided to include "Loaded Gun in the Closet" over "Daddy's Cup" but my fingers had their own ideas.

Another great "history song" for sure, just not as great as Surrender ;)

I tried to choose his four best but if we are going career spanning maybe something like:
Uncle Frank, Zip City, A Ghost To Most/Birthday Boy, Ramon Casiano.

if we are talking "modern era", Filthy and Fried is as worthy as Ramon Casiano or Surrender Under Protest... in fact, Cooley likes it so much, it may be the only song he played twice in the same show...
We got messed up minds for these messed up times...

No doubt, especially given that 72 and Sounds Better in the Song haven't even been listed yet (always possible I glanced past them)

Surprised that I'm the only one who went with Cottonseed. Further proof that I just ain't right

There's a parallel thread in the DBT fan page on FB. Sorry to disappoint you, but Cottonseed gets plenty of love there. :) Sounds Better in the Song does pretty well but I only recall 72 getting a couple of votes. FWIW, of the three, Sounds Better was the hardest omission for me. Great stuff.

The FB post has over 200 comments. I'm planning to tally up tonight and then move onto P Hood's top 4. :)
