The 9/24 Mobile show has finally been added to the DBT website.

I plan to attend. Anyone else from here?

So it now looks like we aren't gonna make the Louisville show -- our friends band is no longer opening due to an illness and we have some stuff going on in Chicago that weekend, including a late-night Lucero show the night before. Enjoy, and hopefully I'll get a chance to buy you a beer (or bourbon) sometime soon.
Sorry you can't make the Louisville show. I hope your friend recovers well. I can not help wondering if having no opener might give me an extended DBT show.
So my friend's band is back as the opener. And of course it's too late for us to get down there for it. Sorry you won't get your extended DBT show, but get there early and enjoy you some Freakwater.

If you’re in the Old City (where the venue is) - Boyd’s Jig & Reel, Pretentious Beer Co., and the Pilot Light (if you can deal with a younger crowd)

If you’re downtown, which is where we’ll be (just a short walk) - Preservation Pub, Scruffy City, Clancy’s, Downtown Grill & Brewery

Knoxville Setlist 9/12:

Self Destructive Zones
When He’s Gone
WWW
Pauline Hawkins
Slow ride argument
Babies In Cages
Ghost to Most
Goodes Field Road
Shit shots Count
Days of graduation
Ronnie & Neil
72
Dead drunk & naked
Guitar man upstairs
Buttholeville
First air of Autumn
Guns of Umpqua
Ramon Casiano
Darkened flags
Surrender under protest
KKK
Sink Hole
Uncle Frank
World of hurt
Marry me
LTBR
Zip city
Grand Canyon

Fantastic show. Brought a couple first timers along, think they left impressed. Goode’s Field Road smoked, World
Of Hurt was incredible, and Let There Be Rock and Grand Canyon were cathartic as always. My hometown of Murfreesboro, TN got a shoutout from Patterson before they went into the run of SRO songs, as that’s where they were directly after 9/11.
Good night all around.

Man, this is maybe the song I most hope for these days. GFR and Used To Be A Cop have just evolved to such a different plane relative to their album versions (which are both great on their own merits, of course).

I agree. "Darkened Flags" seems to be undergoing the same kind of evolution, at least as of the last time I heard it live.

Thanks for posting. How big & enthusiastic was the audience?

Interesting placement of "thoughts and prayers."

The show was a typical DBT crowd (80% male) and the venue was excellent. Not overly crowded on the floor, but certainly not sparse. Having seen DBT mostly at the 40 Watt and in college towns, it was weird having the show begin at 8:15 and end at 10:45 or so - but no complaints as it was a work night for me as well.

One thing I noticed is that it seemed like the tempo on Cooley's songs is being "slowed down" to sound closer to the studio album tempo (I noticed this in Pittsburgh and listening to the recording from Knoxville). I've always preferred the live tempo to the studio tempo (more rock than country-alt.)

Great to finally get a DBT Home game!

The Fox Theater show seemed like it was about fifty-fifty.

It must vary town to town. Feels like the Columbus shows I've seen are 90/10 male/female

Given that the Fox show was a benefit for a Fox program, it wouldn't be odd for the demographics to be different. Plus I could be wrong--I didn't look that closely.

I will be there. I was nervous about the show when it wasn't listed on the band's website. Also, it was not included on the poster for some reason. Looks like the show is on, so as you heathens so eloquently put it....always go to the show!!!!

I was at this show as well. This setlist is correct. Decent crowd for a Tuesday night in Mobile. Jimbo Mathus was a lot of fun and he come out to play on Grand Canyon. Band was tight and they seemed to be having a great time. Not much story telling from Patterson but he made up for it with plenty of face melting. I was blown away by his scorching solo at the end of Babies in Cages. He was torturing that gold top Les Paul. It felt like he really wanted to one up Cooley after the up tempo Slow Ride Argument. Standouts for me were Two Daughters and a Beautiful Wife as well as Sounds Better in the Song. The classics were blistering as well.

I often think that, as much as Cooley values our anger in these troubled times, he also sees how it can go too far, and that figured into writing Slow Ride Argument. He's right about that, and Patterson is right to follow it with a song about why to be mad as hell at things that, well, resemble hell.
