Loving the book. I've at least thumbed through every page and have read most of it in bits and pieces. Quality job everyone. Definitely making me antsy for February 13th...

So, ho many do you need to sign up to justify a 2nd run? Are you close?
How many were there in the first printing?
Just curious.

We have a ton of interest, so yeah we're close but still have a ways to go.

We need about 200 to make it economically feasible. Currently at 160. Should be able to pick up the rest at Homecoming

I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who put the book together. It's awesome. It's the only book my wife allows on the coffee table now. The history, stories and pictures are awesome and that great Wes Freed cover art looks so good on the table.

I just wanted to reiterate exactly how amazing this project turned out and I'm as proud to have been involved (even if it was only tangentially) as anything I've ever done. My hat's off to y'all, especially to Robert and John and thank y'all for seeing it through.

A little birdie told me Nuci's has pre-orders topping 200 now so a second run is 100%. :D :D :D

“The Company We Keep” Drive-By Truckers Book Pre-Order Update

Great news, we have reached our goal of 200 pre-orders which ensures that we will indeed do a 2nd printing in April/May with orders shipping in June….thanks to everyone who has placed an order so far! Due to the expense and logistics around a 2nd printing we plan to order a total of 500 books (it’s possible this will be the last edition), so if you’re undecided about ordering, now would be the time to do it so that we can get an accurate order by April 1st!

Thanks!

Dave

Nuci's posted this on their social channels yesterday:
Nuci's Space wrote:

First of all, we are overwhelmed by the support for the 2nd printing of this book. We've received over 300 orders and we are truly humbled and grateful for the Drive-By Truckers fan community!

Now for the update: After some delays, I'm happy to report that the books have cleared customs and are making their way across the USA from California to our shipping partner in North Carolina. Assuming that part of the journey goes as planned, paid orders should be shipped by late July/early August and arrive to your designated shipping address shortly after that!

We will continue to fill orders until this printing of 500 is gone, so if you missed out it's not too late!

How large was the first printing? It's amazing that this book has sold as many copies as it did.

Such great news.

I am so in awe of this community, and I mean that from the band on out. We've set a very high bar for what comes next!

It was a dark and stormy night...It was so quiet, one of the killers would later say, you could almost hear the sound of ice rattling in cocktail shakers in the homes way down the canyon.
Son, this ain't a dream no more, it's the real thing

Ummm, there seems to be some lack of clarity about what a novel is. As opposed to, say, non-fiction.

this is just setting the scene bubs, it'll pick up steam and diverge slightly from reality when the main protagonist Cortez the Killer enters the 40 Watt with one mission at hand, finding and identifying the elusive dime in the gutter, a seemingly omniscient figure shrouded in mystery who may or may not be a member of a very beloved band around these parts... if he even exists in the physical plane at all.

Gotcha. Good work. Wake me up when we get to the sex scene(s). It will be good to know what I've been missing all these years.

Here you go Bubba, a dive into fiction... :D (we hope)

A woman stood just to the side of the entrance keeping close to the HeAthens without joining their ranks. She was beautiful and looked ready to Rock & Roll. If ever a woman seemed not a candidate for murder...but then, who can ever know because deep inside the darkened club there lurked secrets and lies.

The first thing I remember
I was lying in my bed
I couldn't of been no more
Than one or two
I remember there's a radio
Comin' from the room next door
And my mother laughed
The way some ladies do
When it's late in the evening
And the music's seeping through
The next thing I remember
I am walking down the street
I'm feeling all right
I'm with my boys
I'm with my troops, yeah
And down along the avenue
Some guys were shooting pool
And I heard the sound
Of a cappella groups, yeah
Singing late in the evening
And all the girls out on the stoops, yeah
Then I learned to play some lead guitar
I was underage in this funky bar
And I stepped outside to smoke myself a "J"
And when I came back to the room
Everybody just seemed to move
And I turned my amp up loud and I began to play
And it was late in the evening
And I blew that room away
The first thing I remember
When you came into my life
I said I'm gonna get that girl
No matter what I do
Well I guess I'd been in love before
And once or twice I been on the floor
But I never loved no one
The way that I loved you
And it was late in the evening
And all the music seeping through
“Excited people get on daddy’s nerves.” - M. Cooley
