Well this year I'm finally going to do it. I bought tickets, I reserved rooms at the days inn (my preferred hotel when I'm Working) for the 11-16. Is there anything I need to know going in? I got the book today and have been reading it since I got home from the Cooley show. I am beyond excited I've wanted to go for YEARS

As a first-timer last year, I can't recommend strongly enough that you look over this carefully collected primer: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3080. Extremely helpful. And, as you surely glean from the book, so are all who attend. The community is a compass; you'll never get lost. And, as my Mom might say, of course dress for the weather...(Put your cigarette out and put your hat back on, and don't mix up which is which?)

What Glenn said. You're getting in on Monday. Flicker will be your best bet for meeting people early. Don't be afraid to just walk up and say Hi. Look for the DBT/random band you don't hear on the radio t-shirts

And above all--PACE YOURSELF

Most of us would be happy to come up w/ one brilliant and perfect catch phrase in a lifetime but jonicont now has two. Yes, always go to the show, but in order to make sure that you can follow that sage advice, PACE YOURSELF. Let me say that again: PACE YOURSELF.

Obviously it's more important the older one gets and I don't know where u fall on that scale but you really don't want to get shitfaced the first nite. Probably a good idea not to match bourbon shots w/ swamp any night but especially early in the week. TC may act like (and be) a connoisseur of tequila but all that means is that when it goes down that smooth & sweet it's harder than usual to keep track of how much you're actually drinking. There are similar aficionados of virtually every type of liquor and beer, all of whom are happy to share their knowledge. Or there was the time allisonsdc, me and our guests learned the hard way that one probably doesn't want to have a bourbon tasting in the afternoon, any afternoon.

And just in case you've already forgotten: PACE YOURSELF SO YOU CAN ALWAYS GO TO THE SHOW.

PS Ruffian was a wonderful, beautiful horse. What a tragedy that was. I'm not that big into horses but man I was devastated when she went down.

My book learning says north is the opposite direction of south... what the...?

Barring a minor miracle that would include buying tickets to sold-out shows, I'm unfortunately unable to make it this year. My wife has had some health problems that depleted her vacation time, and I'll be abroad for work for chunks of time in January and March, which would make a "Bachelor's" HC weekend pretty tough to pull off. I think the answer is that if it wasn't before, homecoming is now becoming its different, own kind of beast with different ticket dynamics than even other traditionally "hot" DBT towns. Or put another way, nobody's written a book about attending the Rock Show in Birmingham, Boston or Boise.

Have to agree with Bubba. Book is almost sold out. If you include shipping, we sold $30,000 in one month. Dynamics have changed
