Fort Collins, CO Night 1 - 10/6/18

Post by denverdawg »

After seeing the 30 song setlist from Boulder last night, I thought they might have a brief show tonight. Boy was I wrong. 31 songs tonight. Great overall setlist as well. They appeared to be having a great time, and the tequila was flowing.

Not sure if it sold out, but was full. Doors were at 6, with show at 7, which seemed odd for a Saturday night in a college town. But glad I got there in time to see T. Hardy Morris. He’s so damn good.

Was there a disturbance at the gig that PH needed to "handle" (and did)?
I’d have a lot of nerve to go feigning shock and outrage/If I'd been my example I’d be worse

Must be getting it all out of their systems, being the last rock shows of the year.
Good to see "Angels" back as a closer.

Not quite the last shows, I think they have about 15 to go.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

That wasn’t “Babies in Cages,” but it kicked ass, whatever it was. Is that “Awaiting Resurrection?”

Okay - good to know. I didn’t think it was Babies In Cages at first, but then toward the end it sounded like Patterson said that in one of the lines. The main line in the song was ‘Evil In This World.’ But yeah - it sounded great.

^^Yeah, that was “Awaiting Resurrection.” Great show!

And Glenn, there was a kinda pushy guy down front who was aggressively fist-pumping and getting up in people’s personal space. All our entreaties to calm down were ignored, and Patterson had to tell him so himself; he still didn’t listen. He pushed up close again and Patterson even kicked the guy’s hat off! Anyway I don’t know if he finally got the message and left or had a venue escort out, but it was only about a one-song disturbance.

Damn, those Boulder and Ft Collins set lists are really something else. Must be something about Colorado that gets the boys in the mood. Wonder what it could be?? 8-)

Saturday night was probably a top-5 DBT show for me. They were clearly having a great time (Cooley especially) and we got a top-shelf setlist with just the right amount of cathartic, righteous anger from Patterson in the wake of the Kavanaugh confirmation. I sure as hell needed it. 31 songs flew by. I can't believe that was almost three hours.

UR, I think we made eye contact on Friday night when I was rocking out to "Slow Ride Argument" in Cooleyville. Meant to introduce myself, but I'm pretty bad at that stuff as a result of general introversion. Next time for sure.

Three amazing nights of rock. Took a friend to his first DBT show last night, and he got some relatively deep cuts for show number one. Can't wait til my next chance to see the greatest band in the land.

Were you in a Magnolia Electric Company shirt? I said to CG, mad respect for the guy who knows all the words to an unreleased song! :) We’ll have to make a proper introduction next time. Killer shows!
