I don't want to hijack the thread with this but I just want to drop my two cents real quick. I think Leo can play damn near anyone. He is one of those actors that catch a lot of shit. People seem to love to hate him but I don't get it. I like him. I like nearly everything I have ever seen him in. Well, I could take or leave Titanic but everything else... I welcome the idea of him playing this role.

I've harbored this opinion for 17 years and never shared it with a soul; one of my ex-girlfriends' mom was/is an absolute doppelganger for late-era Mick Jagger, I mean it's uncanny.

Oh, I know. Should've phrased that differently, but we're still waiting to hear quite a few songs (particularly Cooley's). Was glad to see that Patterson dusted off Tough to Let Go at his most recent solo gig, which makes me think that one will make the cut.brett27295 wrote:Three of these have been included in setlists since Spring/Summer:Mundane Mayhem wrote:Guess we'll start hearing these ones on the fall tour. 21st Century USA sounds like it was made to be drenched in pedal steel....guessing it won't be, but it is a mighty fine tune regardless.

Anyone got any more intel on the tune Patton supposedly does lead vocals on?

Was just listening to the recording of the DC show. Patterson said "Scott's Sister" won't be on the record and will probably show up on his next solo record.Mundane Mayhem wrote: Scott's Sister

Yeah I don't get why it would take that long in this day and age. Fall of '19. That's something.Zip City wrote:Meanwhile, Jack White can record a song at noon and have the 7" single in record stores by 2pmbrett27295 wrote:I've heard Fall 2019.crowes74 wrote:Are we looking at a first quarter 2019 date then I hope? I figure it's bottlenecked by vinyl production.Cole Younger wrote:Yeah I don't get why it would take that long in this day and age. Fall of '19. That's something.

I imagine more goes into the decision than just the time it takes to physically press the records; they have lots of stuff coming down the pipeline that may make it impractical to start the promotional jaunt right away.Zip City wrote:Meanwhile, Jack White can record a song at noon and have the 7" single in record stores by 2pm

Re: Recording in Memphis
If I had to bet, I gotta believe a Spring or early Summer release.
Considering the timeliness of the subject matter of some of the lyrics / songs, I don't think waiting until the Fall would do them any good.
Also, I also can't believe vinyl would pose that much of a delay, but what do I know...?

Re: Recording in Memphis
Release will be after the summer. Working bands don't wake up and say "let's go on tour next month". They're typically planned 18 months into the future. During those 18 months, you're already planning the next cycle
Always go to the show

Three years between releases....longest gap in their history?

Patterson said it's coming out in the fall during one of this Portland shows. Which is "after the summer", so the same thing you said.Jonicont wrote:Release will be after the summer. Does recording, distribution and release not factor into the 18-month cycle?Jonicont wrote:Release will be after the summer. Working bands don't wake up and say "let's go on tour next month". Any chance "Perilous Night" shows up on the new rekkid?
I prefer songs getting onto full discs. Seems like they get lost somehow when just released as singles...

Re: Recording in Memphis
I doubt it. I think Patterson said at one point that "Perilous Night" was kind of the punctuation on the end of that era of his songwriting and that his new songs are moving in a different direction (though I'd argue that "Babies in Cages," "Thoughts and Prayers," and "Awaiting Resurrection" are pretty consistent with "Dance Band of the Resistance").gepman wrote:Any chance "Perilous Night" shows up on the new rekkid?

I wonder if Cooley will start to break out some new ones at HC. If so, I'll be doubly sad to be missing it this year.
