Hood and Cooley in the Ivy League. Wow!

Is this the professor from Secret to a Happy Ending? I though he was with Penn at the time but that was ten years ago or more.

I think the only professor or teacher type in STAHE is Bryant Simon who is credited as being Director of American Studies at Temple University. The other professor looking fellow is music writer Geoffrey Himes.

Yes, Prof Simon is (or was at the time of that interview) a professor at Temple University in Philly.

I was able to rearrange my work schedule and will be at this event. Only chance in hell I've got of getting into Princeton

I'll be there too. Already got my favorite sweater vest and argyle socks picked out.

Looking forward to this. As I mentioned to glennrwordman, I don’t recall ever trying to get the rail in lecture halls, but here we are. :)

I'm wondering if anyone is going to stream it, or at least tape it. I've heard Hood talk about politics quite a bit, and that'd be worth it on it's own, but Cooley doesn't so much, so that should be a special treat.

I am manufacturing, and bringing along, a rail. Let's see if I get it past Princeton security...

Speaking of Princeton, John Popper of Blues Traveler is coming to my little town to a new venue built in an old Coca-Cola plant called The Plant. Should be good. Takes me back to my grad school days at Bama. His band for this is called Whiskey Bent, not sure about them. I love to hear him play the harp tho.

Sounds like Wednesday could be a mess, weather-wise. Hopefully Patterson and Cooley are arriving tomorrow night.

Yep, sounding very polar vortex-like

I'm 30 minutes from Princeton and it's just wet roads, snow isn't accumulating.

Princeton's an hour from me and it's been coming down hard for a while now. I'm out.

In the past half hour it's gotten a lot heavier here. It's not looking good.

Bill in CT, Uncle Rickey, and I are still gonna try to get down there from NY Penn Station via NJ Transit. The concern is not so much getting THERE, but getting back. Assuming NJ Transit will run...wish us luck.

We’ve agreed, by a drawing of straws (hell, a conspiracy between Uncle and me) that if the worst happens, we eat Bill.

Trains ahead lost power.
Turning us around. Heading back to NYC.
No way to get to lecture on time, even with changed train, or Lyft from New Brunswick.
Nightmares of missing classes rising.
We tried. We truly did.
Keeping our spirits up w/ out beverages.

Anyone who DID make it, a report would be welcome.

It seems self-evident that we need a medal similar to the ones the SF Giants used to hand out to those fans who stuck it out thru extra innings at very unwelcoming Candlestick. Croix de Heathens, perhaps? Medal of Courage & Valium? Whatever, you guys earned one for your determined but ill-fated effort.

Coach,

The little clip that was online of PH singing "What It Means" looked like there were only a handful of people there, likely students. (Which is fine; I hope they made a few new fans of the Ivy Variety). But, I do hope someone recorded it in some way.

We had a relatively good time, considering. Good convo, and it was like waiting in line...except on a moving train...and the show got canceled...or we were barred entry...or some such. Anywho, it was worth the effort, and the cannibalism thread elsewhere may have justified any suffering, medals or not.

Based on the Book of Face it seemed like a valiant effort to get there. Nothing to be ashamed at in the effort to get there.

One concerning issue is that there were seemingly three grown men riding the train without libations. That's an absolute sin which you should repent for and be ashamed of. How did you not come adequately prepared? How was that not the second thing on your checklist of things to bring after your wallets? This of course unless the East coast train systems do not allow such contraband to exist.
Very disappointing to say the least.
