Homecoming 2018: Songs We Want Brought Back

Here are a couple of songs I'd really like to hear at Homecoming this year:

1. Nine Bullets (easily the one I want to hear the most, I've never gotten a full band version).
2. Go Go Boots (it's time to revisit this one, I've only gotten it once at our first DBT show at Ziggy's in Winston).
3. Carl Perkins' Cadillac (this is the song that got me into DBT, it's been mostly out of the rotation for years).
4. The Buford Pusser Trilogy (Boys From Alabama/Cottonseed/The Buford Stick) played back to back.
5. Days of Graduation->Ronnie & Neil as an opener.
6. Your Daddy Hates Me (I love this song, sue me. Haven't heard it since my first Homecoming in 2012).

And finally I'd LOVE to hear them work up anything from Town Burned Down besides the one's we've gotten over the years.

Any list of this sort must have daddy's cup and cottonseed as 1(a) and (b)

Yeah, really - When you wish upon a star...

As for "Carl Perkin's" - In my opinion, this song has not been up to snuff (sorry Mr. Neff) since Isbell left.

What if Daddy's Cup is your least favorite song on TDS?

Then maybe you'll appreciate it better after seeing it live! :D

"Goodbye" needs to be on this list.

Carl Perkins’ Cadillac would be at the top of my list, with Plastic Flowers close behind.

Daddy's Cup is your least favorite song on The Dirty South? For three of you?? Seriously??? I don't understand how someone can be a fan of DBT and not like Daddy's Cup. To me it embodies pretty much everything that I love about the band. I'm not judging, yall are obviously entitled to your opinions, I'm just saying I don't understand where you're coming from on this one.

And yes, I agree with schlanky about Goodbye. I love that one.

I mean, least favorite song on TDS isn't much of an indictment since that record is pretty much perfect. It's not that I don't like the song; it's just the one I skip more often than others. It's a nice enough story song, but sort of musically monotonous and long. Not my favorite Cooley lyric by a longshot. Definitely wouldn't make my top 50 DBT songs.

That said, if they played it live, I'd lose my shit along with everyone else in recognition of the enormity of the occasion. But the second time, I'd probably take a piss break.

Or maybe it gains something live that would turn it into one of my favorites, a la "Goode's Field Road." Duality of the Truckers thing.

Thank you, clams. I thought 1 was really surprising so 3 is almost off the charts.

Daddy's Cup and Mercy Buckets are my top 2. Loaded Gun is not a good match for the HC crowd/atmosphere, otherwise it would be right up there for me.

It would be nice to see the Great Car Dealer War return. And then keep it in the rotation for the Philly show in the spring.

Atmosphere & vibes be damned, I would give my left nut to hear Loaded Gun.

Here's my list, in a non-exact but somewhat accurate order:
Hood:
Sun Don't Shine
Greenville
Careless
Wallace (w/PH on vox obviously like TDU)
You&Your Crystal Meth
Don't Be in Love
Aftermath
Santa Fe
Too Much Sex/Zoloft
This fucking job
GGB/Fireplace Poker
Pauline Hawkins
Walter Went Crazy
Cooley:
Pulaski
Cartoon Gold
Perfect Timing
Carl Perkins
Hearing Jimmy Loud
Weakest Man
Lisas Birthday/Bob

Covers (previously played) :
Tonight's the Night
Play it All Night Long
Keep on Smilin
Bad Moon Rising
Give My Love to Rose
In the Midnight Hour
Ta

Covers never played (w/full band anyway):
Behind Closed Doors w/Jay playing Pig Robbins
Something w Matt on the mic, maybe some Johnny Thunders or something
Likewise it'd be cool to hear Jay sang one, maybe something off Tusk or something

We in Boston have learned to be very careful about what we pledge after thousands had to surrender their left nut when the Red Sox finally won the World Series (hat tip to Dennis Leary).

Fair enough. That's the thing about music, I guess. Appreciate the appreciation and the attempt at understanding, in today's crazy world. Give peace a chance.

We don't care. We outnumber you.

Agree on Your Daddy Hates Me though. I've always liked it too and never understood why so many people seem to not.

I feel extremely lucky to have caught this one. I don't go to anywhere near the volume of shows as some people here and I lucked up and and happened to be in the right place at the right time. I just like the song ok but it's such a rarity.
