What an awesome announcement to wake up to this morning!
Now if Cooley could just announce an afternoon gig somewhere on that day...

Damn this is a tough one. We usually get in Wednesday night anytime between 6:00 and 10:00 depending on when we can get on the road and traffic. I'm probably going to screw around and tickets will sell out before I can make a decision.

Buy the tickets. I'm certain you can get rid of them if you need to.

In case anyone else was confused about delivery of your tickets for the Caledonia show, all tickets sold are "will call" and will be waiting for you at the door. :P

Patterson was in fine form singing, playing and doing the solo guitar folkie patter/joking thing (though some apparently very funny lines did not reach the back of the room). Claire Campbell's backing vocals ranged from sweet (in the best sense of the term) to haunting (in the best sense of the term). Jay G was his usual excellent self on keys providing superb accompaniment and handling w/ aplomb what seemed like a couple of curve balls from PH (of the "ok you take it" variety).

There was some political talk appropriate to a political fundraiser with Patterson in particular emphasizing the need to act locally especially when the big problems seem so intractable. PH mentioned the latest horror in FL but didn't dwell on it.

PH explained that the "cleaning outfit" in "Daddy Needs a Drink" is about sex, not assholery (aka male domination). I didn't know this was controversial but apparently the references have been misinterpreted by some.

Classic Hood skipping the "boat that ain't seen the water in years" verse of "Righteous Path" which hadn't happen in a while at shows i've attended and then classic Hood doing his best classic Cooley by forgetting the words altogether, strumming a few chords and picking the song up again. :) :) I don't know why i get such a kick out of this, especially since i love the song so much, but I do.

Highlights included Pollyanna, a ferocious What It Means, an almost desperate My Sweet Annette and The Long Time Ago. Plus Hood confirmed the word on the street that he and Barbe are working on the original AHC tapes and expect to finally, actually release the album sometime this year.

An excellent start to what's shaping up to be an excellent weekend, despite the absence of several regulars, who are greatly missed
