I picked up a ticket to the Friday night Hold Steady show, cheap on StubHub, how does one get to Brooklyn Bowl without going back uptown to the Last train? Wonder how much Uber would be

Anyone know how bad the drive from Philadelphia to Sellersville is on a weeknight? I’ll be coming from the King of Prussia area.

Food for thought...

On Sunday night in DC there is a quadruple bill over at the 9:30 club featuring Rev Horton Heat and the Blasters. Same 8PM showtime as as the Patterson show. Wonder if it'll be possible to dash over there and catch the last 2 bands or so...

I hate the hike to the Sellersville Theater but it was a perfect venue for this show. Couldn't have asked for a better set, some of my favorite songs: Fireplace Poker to open the show, Thanksgiving Filter, Opening Act, George Jones, Range War, Why Henry Drinks, The Assassin, 2 Daughters and Righteous Path, plus 3 (count em, THREE!) new songs, and both Heathens and Living Bubba. Among others. Made that guitar sing and lots of story tellin too. Good hanging with phungi, and the Gang Green crew and the Nutfat crew. What a great time.

Dammit Clams! Posted the same time I did. I shouldn't have started the new thread. Oh well. Just wanted to add for the record that Patterson blamed Clams b4 a song, and I forget which. Good night.

The Assassin. Apparently it's my fault that he plays it so infrequently. :)

Sorry I missed you, porker. I must've been a row or two behind you. (But I did hear your Car Dealer War shout out).

Not in order, but these are the songs I think were played:
Thanksgiving Filter
Opening Act
George Jones
Range War
Why Henry Drinks
The Assassin
2 Daughters
Righteous Path
Heathens
Living Bubba
Hanging On
New Song (Billy’s Sister)
New Song (Caroline and a Gun?)
Perilous Night
Ever South
Encore:
New Song (fancy Hotel in Georgia)
What it Means
We got messed up minds for these messed up times...

Also:
Southern Accents
Old Timers Disease
Uncle Disney
Fireplace Poker

What a fantastic selection of songs.
Also, it looked like there was a taper in the house.

As for the new songs, the one about the fancy hotel was called (I think) South Island Lonely, and the one about his mother was called Scott's Sister. The other was something like (Somebody) With a Bible and a Gun. I would describe these songs as being introspective and/or relationship-based. They had nothing to do with politics or recent events at all, and judging from PH's comments it seems like he's ready to move on from Perilous Night-type lyrics for a while.

Niiiiice. Sorry I missed you too. Just one of those shows during the week I really really needed. Met up with Nutfat, etc. pre-show for dinner and then boom- went to our seats at a table right in front of Patterson. Less than spitting distance- YES- THAT close. Couldn't help myself blurting out Car Dealer War. My buddy Jason called for The Range War 3 or 4 times last night and got it. Really like Patterson's intro to Scott's Sister when he was talking about his mother.

Not sure if you heard something else I blurted out to Patterson. It was right after he was talking about how he loved the country drive to the venue and the venue as well. To that I told him in the future he HAS to play Sellersville Theater AND Ardmore Music Hall. Great show. Would love to see Cooley in the same setting.

I agree. (But would you trade Why Henry Drinks, The Opening Act and Living Bubba for it?) 8-)

This being my first Patterson solo show I was glad to hear some songs that DBT don't seem to play often. The trio of Thanksgiving Filter, George Jones, and Deeper In are three songs I've played on my ipod a lot, and to get them in a row early on was awesome. But every show I go to there is one song that, with the new context of having heard live, provides new appreciation for a song I never really paid much attention to before. Tonight that was Fourth Night of My Drinking. Hanging' On, which I've somewhat overlooked among the rockers of English Oceans, was also pretty cool in the solo setting.

A couple pics below with full set here.

See y'all tonight at The Broadberry in Richmond.

Highlights for me last night (in Richmond) were a killer Grand Canyon, the rarity The Assassin (dedicated to our very own Tyler), new song Scott's Sister, Ever South and an epic, and I mean epic, White Knuckle West Virginia.

I was able to shoot full live video of all 3 shows I attended. Came out pretty good, albeit only in 480p. Will hopefully have them up later today

Was in Richmond last night.
Never seen him totally solo before. Thought it was really great.
Was awesome hearing the rare stuff - George Jones, Deeper In, Fireplace Poker, White Knuckle West Virginia, etc etc.
New songs were cool too. Loved Scott's Sister.
Glad I made the trip down from Charlottesville (where DBT will return yet again in late March/early April, according to PH).
Bought the poster too. The collection of Freeds grows bigger...
