Venues You've Seen DBT

Post by denverdawg »

Don't post often, but after taking the time to count the venues I've seen the band, and realizing I'm about to hit 19, I thought maybe it would be cool to do a roll call of seeing just how many venues and where you've seen DBT shows. I'll start...

Total - 19 (so long as I make next weekend's show)

Athens, GA

40watt - many, many times - at least a dozen
Georgia Theatre - 3 or 4 times, also saw a great Patterson - Todd Snider song swap there one night
Flicker - one of the coolest of my 19 venues because it was so small while the band was hitting a new peak of popularity after release of the Dirty South - was announced low-key through the Flagpole, I think; only held about 50 people, but was somewhat ruined by frat boys talking during what was an intimate performance, which still pisses me off

Atlanta, GA

Variety Playhouse - NYE 2006/7 - last time I saw Isbell with the band
Tabernacle - my bachelor party in 2005

Augusta, GA

Can’t remember name of bar – somewhere downtown circa 2005

Wilmington, NC

Greenfield Lake Amphitheatre
Top of Water Street Parking Deck

Myrtle Beach, SC

House of Blues - loved T. Hardy Morris as the opener

New Orleans, LA

Tipitinas - I think this show was the Sunday night before Mardi Gras and I think JJ Grey and Mofro opened - it was Mardi Gras and it's all hazy; I do remember that the band went on really, really late, and by the time I was making it back to hotel via cab after the show that the sun was starting to come up; this was in the early/chubby days of Isbell, during the Decoration Day tour, and that brand of rock show was just completely raucous

DC

9:30 Club - NYE right after Neff left the band, gosh I miss the pedal steel, but still a really impressive show how they figured out a way to make songs work with such short notice on the lineup change - largely due to how amazing Jay is

Colorado

Bluebird Theatre - remember Patterson announcing he was going to be a Daddy at this show back in 2004
Ogden Theatre
Red Rocks - saw the boys open for Black Crowes in 2006 and Alabama Shakes in 2015
Mishawaka - super cool place to see a show, right next to a river with people rafting and kayaking, then coming out of the river to get a beer with their wet suit on
Aggie Theatre - one of the rowdiest places I've ever seen in a show
Fox Theatre
Boulder Theatre
Chautauqua Auditorium

State College, PA - The State Theatre

Dirt Underneath Tour (with Spooner) and Ryan Bingham opening

Columbus, OH - Newport Music Hall

Several times. Openers include Dexateens, Old 97's, Houndmouth, and The Henry Clay People

Cleveland, OH - Beachland Ballroom

Twice, I think. Glossary opened one show, and Langhorne Slim (???) the other.

Cincinnati, OH - Southgate House

The Whigs opened.
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Zip City - I hate the fact that I missed that DBT / Ryan Bingham pairing. That was a good twin bill. My favorite all-time DBT opener is Centro-Matic. The Dickinson brothers of North MS All-Stars was pretty nice as well. And like I mentioned, I love me some T. Hardy Morris.

WWBs strategy is to wait until everyone has posted, then copy paste and combine into one long list. No deletions necessary, perhaps only add a handful or so.

True, but believe it or not, I have attended Rockshows with WWB where CG and UR were not present. (Does that make me special?)

No, but you are special anyway.

It does make me wonder if I can say the same. I think the answer is yes, but I'm not 100% certain.

I can't remember all the venues but I've seen DBT in at least 10 states.

As have I. He came to the Little Rock show the Wednesday after Craig died. Which is part of how I date my shows. Speaking of people who are special. <3

I will have to consult the Vault on the DBT site to do this properly but I know where I have seen them in Athens off the top of my head.

This is an exercise in memory and I'm not as well DBT-traveled as many of you.

Virginia-The National (Richmond) and the Jefferson (Charlotesville) many, many times. I've also seen DBT at outdoor shows in both cities. Friday Cheers and/or Insbrook After Hours in Richmond and at the outdoor pavilion in Charlotesville.

Once in a field (Lagoon Field) at Hampden-Sydney College...2010 or 2011 I believe.

Floydfest

Locken

North Carolina-Multiple Asheville shows at the Orange Peel

Tennessee-The New Daisy Theatre and maybe one other indoor venue
Memphis in May

Georgia-The Fabulous 40 Watt club this past February

Alabama-Lyric Theatre Birmingham. I've also seen multiple Cooley solo shows in Alabama, and I believe one Patterson solo show in the state.

Missouri-The Pagent St. Louis

I don't know why I am even bothering

The Fillmore, San Francisco (a lot, would have to think/look at ticket stubs to determine #, should be in double figures)
Amoeba Records, San Francisco
Great American Music Hall, San Francisco (2)
Golden Gate Park, San Francisco (2)
Greek Th., Berkeley
Uptown Theatre, Napa
Montbleu Casino, Stateline, NV
Knitting Factory, Reno, NV
Crystal Bay Casino, Crystal Bay, NV
Sleep Train Amp., Marysville, CA (even though venue hasn't moved, location is now listed as Wheatland)
Ace of Spades, Sacramento, CA (3, though first time venue was named Empire Room)
Wonder Ballroom, Portland, OR
Roseland Th., Portland, OR
Red Butte Gardens, Salt Lake City

I'm forgetting a venue or two at the moment. Honestly can't recall if I saw them at the Bottom of the Hill in SF, and feel like I'm forgetting another Oregon venue

had amazing tickets for band opening for Tom Petty at Blossom in Ohio in 2010 but show was canceled a few hours before showtime due to Mike Campbell suffering heat problems night before in MO. Doctor told him to cancel, so they did. Just a few hours before show got separate texts from Worldwide and Bovine Knievel telling us the bad news. Eventually they set up an impromptu show in Cleveland that night, but by the time we heard about we had drowned our sorrows far too well to safely drive back into Cleveland. Down the road at an Amoeba in-store I got band to sign our Blossom Tickets, and Patterson and Cooley busted out huge guffaws when I called Mike Campbell a pussy

And for the record, Mike Campbell is an "above reproach golden god!"
