DBT @ WXPN's XPoNential Festival, July 30

Post by Clams »

Sounds like they'll be headlining on the main stage in Wiggins Park on the Camden waterfront. Pretty sure it's an afternoon gig, but not sure if it'll be on Friday July 28th, Saturday the 29th or Sunday the 30th.

Details here: http://thekey.xpn.org/2017/03/21/drive- ... ival-2017/
And here: http://www.xpnfest.org

This is great news. XPoNential is a great festival. Nice people, relaxed vibe, and a great cause.

More to come.

Edited: the show is on the 30th

DBT is in Newport on 7/29 so their Camden show will be either Friday or Sunday.

Last time they played this they headlined Friday night. Neither Friday or Sunday is ideal.

The lineup this year is pretty awesome. I'll be volunteering again this year since I'm too cheap to pay and volunteering has become a tradition for me. Plus you get lucky sometimes and get to see Ryan Adams do his soundcheck while hanging up signs

Yep, I've gone twice and they've always sold one-day passes at the gate. It was like $25 or $30 for the ticket if you were an XPN member and twice that if you weren't, but they let you join at the gate for a relatively nominal amount. I'm pretty sure you can't get the one-day passes in advance, you have to do it the day of the show.

Probably should mention... the above only applies to the afternoon shows on the smaller stages in Wiggins Park. If you want to go to the festival's big evening shows (Wilco & Conor Oberst night 1, Amos Lee and Spoon night 2) at the BBT Amphitheater, which is right next door, that's a separate ticket.

Confusing, right? Hey don't blame me (ha).

I guess we can assume a summer tour announcement is imminent with all these festival dates popping up ?

If the last three summers are any indication, I'd say probably not

Here's the lineup for Sunday afternoon. Pretty sure there are two side stages and the main stage. Not sure who's playing where or when - other than DBT being the final act on the main stage probably around 3 or 4pm.

Here's how to buy single day tickets for the festival.

First, go to the event page and scroll down to the section for Single Day Passes:
http://xpnfest.org/

DBT is playing at Wiggins Park, as you can see single day tickets for Wiggins Park are $35 for WXPN members and $70 for nonmembers. You can join XPN for less than $35, so it behooves you to become a member. Sign up and pay here:
https://donate.nprstations.org/wxpn/default
(Fyi you can join for a nominal amount, I’ll leave the decision of how much $$ up to you)

Once you become a member, you will get a code to unlock the $35 member ticket rate which you then use on the ticketmaster event page to buy your Sunday ticket:
https://www1.ticketmaster.com/event/020052EA45069E75

You're welcome and I'll see you at the rock show. 8-)

I'll always regret not plugging into the WXPN/World Cafe Live scene more when I was in college in Philly. I was familiar with them, but didn't take advantage of the proximity at all. Hope this one's great for those of you lucky enough to attend! Pretty sure our guys are too professional to do what Father John Misty did last year.

Stream quality isn’t great on my end, lagging a bunch, but that might just be me. On the bright side, at least the show has been awesome so far and they aren’t pre-empting the Truckers’ performance for Wilco like Newport did yesterday

Weird moment with a heckler before "What It Means." Maybe folks who were there can enlighten us later.

Yeah I couldn’t tell what the deal with the heckler was. The way Patterson reacted I assumed it couldn’t be too bad, but who knows. We’ll find out later.

Also the opening riff to Let There Be Rock gets me every time, they’re killing it here. That skyline in the backdrop is picturesque as well.

It sounded to me like the heckler said "how come there are no black people in your band," or something like that.
