Yep. The Cactus is in the same spot in the Union. 7 or so years ago there was a plan to remodel the Union, which included the Cactus being retired and replaced. Fortunately, members city's population revolted, formed a non-profit and saved it.

Cooley plays Saturday and Sunday and Amanda Shires plays Friday. So, I'm 95% sure that her husband is going to show up and sit in for a few songs with Cooley. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Jason may be sitting in with Amanda (doubt it though since she still travels in a van) but they'll be in New Orleans by the time Cooley plays on Saturday.

My wife and kids will be at Disney the weekend of the Cooley Florence/Birmingham shows. The father and law and I were considering Birmingham, but then we thought why not Florence too. I'm thinking I should be able to make a Friday night show in Florence after work, stay somewhere in North Alabama, then go to Birmingham. Two night of Cooley...it'll be like in at my own personal Disney World but without $10 ice creams!!!!

Just bought my ticket, so it looks like I'm in for Birmingham.

Beaverdam: The only place I've stayed in Florence is the Shoals Marriott for work (like it) and there's probably somewhere closer to venue and cheaper than that.

Tonight the Bryan (the father-in-law) and I officially bought tickets for Florence and Birmingham. We bought a pair for my brother-in-law too who is 95% sure he's coming. I'm looking forward to sharing Christmas cheer with Cooley Clause and my heathen bretheren!!!

Beaverdam, there are two Hampton Inns in Florence that I'd recommend. The one downtown is closer to the venue, but the other is not unreasonably far.

I'm at home with a sick child so I have some time to do DBT trip planning.

I just booked the downtown Hampton Inn in Florence for Friday night. I got a rate of less than $110. There was a cheaper Days Inn, but it didn't look nearly as nice.

Now I'm going to figure out Birmingham accommodations. In the pet we've stayed outside of downtown and über ed in to town..not sure what we'll do this go-round!

Cooley is coming to town! And he seems to bring snow w him every time he plays here. Although last time it was a straight up blizzard, dumping over a foot between the Saturday night and sunday afternoon 'BBQ' gig (needless to say there was no BBQing going on)- Looks like just light snow tomorrow morning, nothing of any concern

Wish I was able to make both nights but I'll be there on Saturday w a good crew. Looking forward to it!
