so, with Homecoming off of my dance card, and because I am blessed to have such an amazing wife, I am in the the process of making this work for me. If I travel solo, I will be in for Dublin, Manchester, Bristol and Brighton. If one or two of my friends, who may or may not be bad hombres, travel with, I expect Antwerp and Amsterdam will be added to the list. Glasgow, and Scotland in general, is a journey that will require meaningful time (I really want to visit the birthplace of my grandfather) and my wife by my side. I just need to clear up a couple of things before I solidify my plans, but man o man - I am giddy at the prospect of doing this. I have never been to the UK before.

Oh we'll cap the night off in style alright my friend. And Dublin - Fisherman's Blues will be top of my mind for sure. ;)

I have been holding out faint hope that the Scotch-Irish ancestral connections of (some!) members of the band might tempt them to book a show in Belfast, the geographic location of said ancestors. That way I could had driven to both the Dublin show and a Belfast show, ah well barring a last minute change its not to be.

This is one hard working band, of that there is no doublt - almost back to back US shows, and then back to back European shows. The only date for a Belfast show would be before the Glasgow show, from what I can see. Also, its interesting that there isn't one German (or French) show on the tour (yet).

I have no job right now and need to watch my savings, but hell with it, I decided to come over. Found a cheap flight to London and I have friends over there to stay over.

So I'm doing Manchester-Bristol-London shows for DBT. And also seeing Teenage Fanclub, Foxygen and Strand of Oaks before.

Amazed that the London and Bristol tickets aren't out yet, maybe worth checking with the places you ordered from.

The next rock show is in Europe... 8 days!

Not sure if anyone else is attending Amsterdam, but there's an awesome bar about ten minutes walk from the venue called L'Affiche, it has great Belgian beer, cool sounds and a friendly cat.

Google thing below

Me and the wife will be pre-gaming there, all welcome.

I figured it's only an extra 2 hours drive and a day off work and how often do DBT come the low countries?

Actually I won't be in Dublin, unfortunately can't fit it around work.

I knew you had to surface eventually. Enjoy! Never heard of Eyelids, let us know how the Big Fanclub sound works in concert. Oh, yeah. And the other guys too.

Does anyone else think Shut Up & Get On The Plane is kind of a weird closer? Saw them do it once, and left wanting more.

No encore!! About 25 mins from the end of the gig Paterson said they were just going to play right through, they obviously must have been enjoying it and didnt want to break stride. Plus the curfews are ridiculously early in Glasgow. And anyway encores are for pussies obviously, not our guys 8-)
The main highlight for me in a gig full of them was Ever South bleeding seemlessly into Surrender Under Protest. This was probably 5th time I've seen the band, and it was by far and away the best ever. Thanks in no small part to the sound guy, the overall sound and the way he managed to make every band member audible was top drawer. Darkened Flags.... had to be heard to be believed.
Glasgow crowds are notoriously hard to impress, not tonight though, and the band seemed to realise that and looked as if they had a great time on stage.
