So far metacritic has the album at 93, "universal acclaim."

Who knew that there was a current site called ninebullets? :o Not only do they like the album, there's a shout out to our very own jimmyjack in the review: http://ninebullets.net/archives/drive-b ... organ-enos

Here's the least favorable review I've found so far although still pretty favorable: http://vulturehound.co.uk/2016/09/drive ... um-review/

I've been aware of it for a while. If I'm not mistaken, it came into existence roughly within the same time frame as the original 9 Bullets discussion board which preceded 3DD. If I remember correctly, there may have even been a mild dispute over the use of the name at that time since they were both DBT's inspired and covered essentially the same type of music. I'm sure the folks that were running 9 Bullets (the message board) back then would recall.

Nice! I always wonder if those listicles ever really result in anyone checking out things they haven't heard, so it's nice to see some evidence of that actually happening.

And I'm not going to lie: seeing my quote pop up in so much DBT press (even though it's always credited to "Stereogum," which is standard practice) fills me with a rare sort of glee. And, for the record, I stand by that shit, 100-fuckin-%!

AllMusic

"...these songs weren't written for the audience to cheer along, but to encourage a debate that the country seriously needs. American Band is an op-ed column with guitars, and it presents a message well worth hearing..."

that makes the album sound like a lot less fun than it actually is, Combat Rock paraphrase notwithstanding

"Instead of pondering the Southern Thing"

Isn't that exactly what they're doing here in some respects? Hell I think of Ever South as a direct sequel to the song.
We call him Scooby Do, but Scooby doesn’t do. Scooby, is not involved

Huh. Reads like more than 4 stars to me.

PS It's about time they weighed in.

More from rolling stone and a review from consequence of sound (maybe the most well written review I've read yet)

Must be me because the RS piece reinforces my reaction about it being a more than 4 star review and the COS review sounds like more than a B+ to me. I must be one of those grade inflation types.

I agree. I think we've gone over this territory before, but do we know how many (%) RS reviews get 3, 3 1/2, 4, 4 1/2, and 5 star reviews? I'd guess it's something like 45%, 45%, 6%, 3%, and 1%.
