FUCKIN' A!! So to speak. That's alsum and well deserved. I don't think I've been this excited about a record release since somewhere around The River.

Apologies if this has been posted, but I hadn't seen it. It's the Associated Press. Cooley's final quote might be his most cutting observation yet.

That 4 star RS review actually pulls the album's Metacritic score DOWN from 91 to 89 (as 4/5 = 80%)

Anyone else puzzled by this? "With acoustic guitar accompanied by pedal steel and Hood’s plaintive vocals, “What It Means” takes a subdued approach to the subject of African-Americans killed at the hands of police (or, in the case of Martin, a vigilante cop-wannabe)."

Kudzu Guillotine wrote: I've been aware of it for a while. If I'm not mistaken, it came into existence roughly within the same time frame as the original 9 Bullets discussion board which preceded 3DD. If I remember correctly, there may have even been a mild dispute over the use of the name at that time since they were both DBT's inspired and covered essentially the same type of music. I'm sure the folks that were running 9 Bullets (the message board) back then would recall.

Hi,
I am currently running the "other" ninbullets. As far as I know there wasn't any big issue over the name back when but I always wondered if that was part of why it got switched to 3DD. Anyhow, I'm a big DBT fan and was on the previous board as well (long before I took over the.net site). Check back in with us over there every now and then if you're inclined.

And if you're coming to the San Luis Obispo show let me know and we can hang out a bit.

It changed to 3DD because the original admin of 9B stopped actively running it, but no one here knew any of the passwords, so we couldn't take it over. Instead, jonicont opted to start a new domain so that he had full control over the site

They've actually be reasonably fair over the years to the boys. GGB got a 7.7 and Stephen Duesner is actually a fan. Duesner is, on the other hand, the guy who gave Jason Isbell's Something More than Free a 5.8 review much to the consternation of JI fans.

Nice. Hope Slate gets pulled into Metacritic, because that sure reads like 100 to me.

The Drive-By Truckers have asked that if you're not a liberal, please don't support them. That is not a joke... that is out of Patterson's own mouth. And if you think they're a southern band... guess again... they hate the south and have moved to Oregon to be around people that they can relate to. They also believe your Confederate Flag needs to be surrendered to racists and any pride you feel along with it. And of course they want you to watch their performance about how awful police officers are at the DNC. Google DBT and their interview with Consequence of Sound if you don't believe me. You can also Google Patterson's Confederate Flag article in the NY Times.

Now I've always been a fan of DBT...but the fact is, they are truly opinionated pricks and have the nerve to flat out tell you you're wrong if you don't share in their beliefs. I don't care what you believe, but don't push it onto me or tell me I'm wrong because I don't share your views. I have been to concerts, bought shirts, LPs, etc.... but no more. Never again. If DBT doesn't want me, I'll leave.

If you want good, true southern rock without apologies... Blackberry Smoke is coming out with a new one soon and Whiskey Myers just released "MUD" which is fantastic. Even some Hellbound Glory and Excavators should suit you too.

Do they have like a handbook or something? Why is the language always the same? Oh and watch out for the guy that can't mention English Oceans without calling it a turd. He's not using that eloquence for AB but he does have other words.

I especially like the idea that five grown-ass men with families all simultaneously moved to Oregon together. "They hate the South."
