Just based on the Spotify release, the sound is so much better than the leak, the biggest beneficiary being Jay's Hammond. Man does he sound better, way higher in the mix. If I can tell the difference on Spotify, I have a feeling you vinyl people will be very happy.

For the first time in about a dozen pre-orders, Amazon has let me down. Said it was arriving today all week, now it says tomorrow. I can still download the mp3s, so it's all good.

Well shit. So much for holding out...I'm way to easy. My wife and I are off today and she walked in and turned it on. My two year old is dancing to Ramon Casiano

Just finished listening to the new Shovels & Rope album, and they have a rather socially political song on their album as well. Its nice to see that other alt-country/Americana acts are bucking the stereotype and putting songs like this out.

Black lives, White lives, Yellow lives, Red

Let's all come together and share the bread
Let's all join hands and share the dread

Black lives, White lives, Yellow lives, Red

Too many die and too many dead

Black lives, White lives, Yellow lives, Red

Let's all come together and bow our heads
Talkers talk, but nothing gets said
Nothing gets done and the hate it spreads
While mothers and families hang their heads
And children weeping in their beds
Blood was bled and tears were shed
While that (sorry? storied?) flag flies overhead
That blocks the light, but not the lead
That blinds the proud with pride instead
While the poor go hungry and the fat get fed

Black lives, White lives, Yellow lives, Red

Everybody's scared if you see it or not
Look and see what the other one's got
Walking down the street to your usual spot
Everybody tryin' to not get shot

If Black lives, White lives, Yellow lives, Red
Would all come together and share the bread
We could all join hands and share the dread
Black lives, White lives, Yellow lives, Red

Does anyone know what the deal is with the pre-order from the DBT website regarding MP3 downloads? I'm driving to Telluride today to see Neil Young, and wouldn't mind listening to the non-leak version on the way.........

Not sure about this time but in the past I've gotten an email on release day with a link to download it.

It's not poetry, but its important that its being said by country artists.

After multiple listens I have to say this is the best DBT album since Brighter Than Creation's Dark, which would easily be my favorite if you were to cut a few of the tracks. They've managed to make an album that concisely summarizes the current state of the country without sounding preachy. I, like others, cringed a bit with all of the coverage of this being a political album, but they really nailed it. Solid stuff.

I love that this band can release a song that ends up, on the day of an album's release, both a top pick (me, TW_2.0) and bottom pick (Duke) of loyal board members! Such is the duality of the, err, DBT thing. :D

"Ever South," to me, easily cracks the Patterson all-time top 5. But to each his / her own!

Also--miracle of miracles--my LP arrived today, on time! Psyched.

Yeah, Ever South is upper echelon Patterson for me too right up there with Living Bubba, Two Daughters, Sinkhole, Southern Thing and a few others. In fact I think it's of a piece with Southern Thing with narrator on a couple of decades.

For my Atlanta friends, Criminal Records in L5P is the only store in town that has the bonus CD. So I heard. It's not like I went down there and bought 3 more copies to give as gifts or anything :D

My take on Ever South is that it's a fine piece of writing that barely meets the minimum requirements to be considered a "song." I just find it to be super boring. I do enjoy the way the bass rattles my car, though.

The bass on this album (composition, performance, tone, production, everything) is fantastic. Hats off to Mr. Patton.

For Denver folks, no bonus cd, but there was still a handful of the red vinyl available as of 11 or so.

"Once they Banned Imagine" reminds me of something but I can't place it.

Maybe "Helpless"...?

It's a middle aged Southern Thing set to The Thanksgiving Filter quality music

I don't hate it, but mentioning it in the same breath as The Living Bubba seems a bit much

Yes. To my ears it's cut right from the Harvest/After the Gold Rush mold.
