I think "Kiss My Baby You Son of a Bitch" needs a revisit. Maybe it made the next album.

I though of this one yesterday when I saw that Rubber Glove Rehearsal Studio in Denton, TX (also a venue) was closing it's doors.gepman wrote:After The Scene Dies

That would be sweet. The studio version doesn't always do a lot for me, but it's a fucking monster live.Slipkid42 wrote:Your Daddy Hates Me - please.
My only time was in Madison, in October of '11. TC and GW were there, IIRC.
Re: Songs you wanna see brought back
They played it at the 9:30 Club around that time & it was fantastic. I've caught it at least one other time, but I can't remember where or when.Iowan wrote:That would be sweet. Man I hope Patterson sees this thread...and takes notice.
Re: Songs you wanna see brought back
Is Self Destructive Zones out of rotation? I was listening to BTCD this wkend and it occurred I haven't seen it on set lists recently. Also possible I just don't pay attention closely

Good comic relief. I'm especially digging the harmonies on this one.GuitarManUpstairs wrote:I think "Kiss My Baby You Son of a Bitch" needs a revisit. Maybe it made the next album.
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be
Re: Songs you wanna see brought back
I'd give someone else's left nut (brave, I know) to hear Greenville to Baton Rouge (preceded by Life in the Factory), Wallace (w/Patterson, Jay or Matt singing), Careless, Weakest Man, Cartoon Gold, Daddy Needs a Drink, Checkout Time, Monument Valley, Go Go Boots, Fireplace Poker, Buford Stick, Boys from Alabama, Cottonseed, Wife Beater, Demonic Possession, Tough Sell, and When Walter Went Crazy at either the Atlanta show or Homecoming.
I know solo songs are pretty much forbidden but I think this lineup could work up a murderous version of the Assassin or Rising Son.

Re: Songs you wanna see brought back
These are a few I'd love to get (that I've never heard) on the upcoming SE run & Homecoming:
Careless
Do It Yourself
A Blessing & A Curse
Nine Bullets
and I'd kill to get this as an opener:
Days of Graduation -> Ronnie & Neil

Maybe I'm not paying close enough attention but I don't think Cooley has played Self Destructive Zones or Carl Perkins Cadillac w the full band in some time.

for your cowardice in facing down your flaws
I’m not sure what makes me sadder, all that talent up in flames
or the lack of understanding that it wrought
DIY is a rocking song that captures the immediate feelings following a loved one's suicide, but there is a bit of lack of understanding implicit in some of the lines.
I'd love to hear Nine Bullets as well but I still think considering the message and stories behind Guns of Umpqua and Darkened Flags its not exactly... appropriate? Not perhaps the best word (I can't conjure it up at the moment) and I love the song and its a DBT classic (hell, it was their first release) but I feel uneasy about it currently. Dark humor has it's place and I'm never for the censoring of art but... still. Not that they should retire the song, but maybe not play a humorous song about shooting people on the Darkened Flags tour, which is referencing a song inspired by the Charleston shooting?
With that said, I'd still mark out and sing along if they busted it out and I wouldn't hold it against them, but I would completely understand if they let that one rest awhile.

Re: Songs you wanna see brought back
I heard Cooley do SDZ on the English Oceans tour in Delaware, it was late in the set, one of the weirder DBT sets I've ever seen (in a good way). Patterson did Do It Yourself at that show too IIRC...Gaetzi wrote:Maybe I'm not paying close enough attention but I don't think Cooley has played Self Destructive Zones or Carl Perkins Cadillac w the full band in some time.
Anyway, full band Cottonseed had some MASSIVE balls and I want them to play that

I agree there's very little chance (probably closer to zero for A Blessing & A Curse) they'll play these...they're just one's I'd really like to hear lol.Smitty wrote:

Threads like this is why I miss OneofTheseDays.org so much. It was so easy to look up the last time a song was played, etc. Really, really, really, miss that damn website.

I'm going out on a limb, but it's really not much of a stretch with the new material: I want to hear the cover of "Adam Raised A Cain" make it back.
Now it's dark.

Re: Songs you wanna see brought back
They haven't done Carl Perkins Cadillac either of the last two times they have played Memphis. I was under the impression that it was kind of a staple when they played here.Gaetzi wrote:Maybe I'm not paying close enough attention but I don't think Cooley has played Self Destructive Zones or Carl Perkins Cadillac w the full band in some time.

Regarding your last sentence, I've always wanted to hear K&S done as a full band album.Smitty wrote:I'd give someone else's left nut (brave, I know) to hear Greenville to Baton Rouge (preceded by Life in the Factory), Wallace (w/Patterson, Jay or Matt singing), Careless, Weakest Man, Cartoon Gold, Daddy Needs a Drink, Checkout Time, Monument Valley, Go Go Boots, Fireplace Poker, Buford Stick, Boys from Alabama, Cottonseed, Wife Beater, Demonic Possession, Tough Sell, and When Walter Went Crazy at either the Atlanta show or Homecoming.

Re: Songs you wanna see brought back
How (how) did we/he let that die? I recall I reached out (forgot the super-loose tie I had) and did not hear back. I know others on the board who had a much closer connection tried too. Can anyone explain what went down? Is all that data "officially" lost forever? Could we buy it from him somehow, crowd-source style?brett27295 wrote:Threads like this is why I miss OneofTheseDays.org so much.
