They opened the first Birmingham show last April with Birmingham. That was the first time I saw them do that song.Cole Younger wrote:There are some songs that I feel like we won't ever see performed live again for whatever reason. Birmingham and Life In The Factory are two of those.

I've also seen DBT do it multiple times. It has been years since I saw it though...according to setlist.fm the last time I saw it was Homecoming 2009. According to the same site, the last time DBT played it live was February 2009 at the 9:30 Club.whatwouldcooleydo? wrote:unless I hallucinated it, I've seen it multiple timesCole Younger wrote:Dang. I'd enjoy a comeback from pretty much anything on the "Big 3 " that hasn't been played a lot. From more recent times, I'd love to see "Self Destructive Zones" and "Primer Coat" get in the mix.
I really dig their cover of "Adam Raised a Cain." Would kill to get that.

Cooley said one time that he doesn't play it because he can't remember all the words. Hard to imagine. Nope. The Fillmore, San Fran, May 8, 2010. It was a special show for me in many ways. I don't think that's why I remember it as being so good. Which reminds me of something said in that thread:Cole Younger wrote:Variety Playhouse in Atlanta right before The Big To Do was released?John A Arkansawyer wrote:That was the moment the second-best DBT show I ever saw shifted into high gear and never looked back.Cole Younger wrote:The Great Car Dealer War.

Maybe we should all chip in and rent Cooley a teleprompter for Homecoming.Cole Younger wrote:Dang. Have you seen Daddy's Cup too? I don't think I know anybody who has.

The 4/20 show in Wilmington, Delaware would be a great place for the Great Car Dealer War to return to the mix. The same could be said of any show prior to that one, provided it were to show up in Wilmington.

I was at a Neil Young and Promise of the Real show last July and because they were playing so many random songs from Neil Young's back catalogue, each member of the band had a teleprompter on their respective mike stands.pearlbeer wrote:Maybe we should all chip in and rent Cooley a teleprompter for Homecoming.Cole Younger wrote:Dang. The one thing I like about Neil playing with Promise of the Real is that he has busted out a bunch of older songs since they started touring together. For example, in 2015 I saw him do Looking For A Love for the first 2 times since 1996.Bon Scott's AC/DC wrote:I was at a Neil Young and Promise of the Real show last July and because they were playing so many random songs from Neil Young's back catalogue, each member of the band had a teleprompter on their respective mike stands.pearlbeer wrote:Maybe we should all chip in and rent Cooley a teleprompter for Homecoming.Cole Younger wrote:Dang. Yep, he's really ramped up the policy of digging out unplayed tracks since he got with Promise of the Real... I also saw him in June 2009 when he was with a different backing band, and he was starting that policy with the odd song here and there. That night he played Burned... which was amazing, because I think it was the first time in over 40 year (1969) that he had played that great song!!

I know it's a newer one, but once "Natural Light" faded out of the setlists, it stayed out. I miss it so much!

Re: Songs you wanna see brought back
The six I most want to see most from Patterson are Careless, GV to BR , GGB/Fireplace Poker, Tales Facing Up and/or Santa Fe, and I'd mark out if Cooley busted out Cartoon Gold, Perfect Timing, Weakest Man, Pulaski or Bob.
Covers I'd like to see are Rebels, Mama Bake a Pie, Keep on Smilin' (we could use it, I believe) or Ooh La La.
One thing that I wish they'd play but realizd there's a little less than zero percent of it actually happening are some of Patterson's amazing solo songs that don't get played nearly enough (Pollyanna, Uncle Disney, Better Off Without, etc). I have heard "Back of a Bible" and "Grandaddy" at DBT shows so its not completely unprecedented.
Of course I'm most open to new, unreleased songs; they're always welcome to me.

Figured they were working "Santa Fe" back in when they broke it out in Aspen on 8/19 (first show of the Darkened Flags era), but I guess I haven't really seen it pop up much (at all?) since then. Purely unscientific, of course.Duke Silver wrote:santa fe is a good call. biggest casualty of the post-neff era, imo.
