The pickle lighter should be the rock show version of Flat Stanley. Pass it on person-to-person or thru the mail and photograph it at every show. Can we make this happen?

Hell I even found a leprechaun to pose with the lighter. I think the technology scared him though.

Question for the folks that were there last night, what time did the opening act end/DBT start playing and had everyone pretty much held down their spot closest to the front of the stage by then?

DBT began around 10:15. The spots closest to the stage were locked down about 10 mins after doors opened at 8:00.

I don't know where these two shows rank out of the 31 I've seen, but as a 2 night stand they were outstanding and the best Cat's Cradle shows I've seen by far. Thursday's show was definitely an epic an it's probably in the top 3 or so. But disregarding rankings it was 2 nights of celebration. A celebration that rock and roll isn't dead. A celebration of old friends and meeting new friends. Just a flat out celebration.

It is clear that band is having an outright blast on stage right now. I saw it at Homecoming and I read about from show reports from earlier in the tour. It was evident on stage the past two nights as well. Both Patterson and Cooley talked about their past and history with the Triangle area, with Cooley's story about Durham and writing "Love Like this" especially cool. The new songs? Wow the new album is going to be a barnburner! My new favorite new songs is "Surrender Under Protest"....but it's constantly changing. I can't wait until September.

If I had to sum up the weekend, I think this picture of our esteemed leader and myself says it all:

I believe that Clams is right and the pickle lighter needs to travel near and far. Can we get it to 50 Rock Shows this year?

I knew I had seen them open with Shut Up and Get on the Plane before Thursday! It was 1/23/09 in Towson, MD.

I had a great time attending my first 2 shows at Cat's Cradle. It was a pleasure to see old friends and meet new ones.

With few exceptions, I don't keep track of the number of shows I've seen, nor am I especially good at rating them but I'd say this particular line up has been on fire for quite some time. The most recent shows I've seen (Greensboro and the Cradle shows from last year and this year) are prime examples of that. I'm also glad to see so much new stuff showing up in the setlists. For some, that may be an excuse to grab a beer or take a restroom break. To me, it indicates a band is still hard after it and isn't apprehensive in the least when it comes to trying out new stuff on their audience.

I don't know how you could top Thursday's set list but on Friday you had plenty of new songs plus Bulldozers & Dirt and Love Like This back to back.
By the time you drop them I'll be gone
And you'll be right where they fall the rest of your life
