First visit to Gruene Hall, Texas' oldest continually operated dance hall. 137 years and still going strong. Can't wait!

Another curfew, or is 18-20 songs the new normal?
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

That was a fun show. Lots of surprises in the set list. Tales Facing Up was dedicated to "our friends from the Northeast who travel everywhere to see us. As Patterson looked at Karen & Craig, aka, PA Heathen & her hubby, Patterson asked where are you from again? I see you everywhere!" We were all touched by the dedication & love. We had 2 more 3DD folks up front, Bogart & Fool Nowhere. A small crew but we did our best to represent. I thought Todd (Fool Nowhere) would call it a night after they opened with One of These Days. He had been chasing that & was floored to get that right off the bat. The rest of the set list was just fantastic. What a fun night!

That's how spoiled we are, 20 songs seems like a short show.

Well compared to what we're accustomed to it is pretty short. Then again once you see a 30+ song set they all seem short after that. I saw the first two shows of the English Oceans tour (Raleigh & Richmond) and it was a 29 song set followed by a 33 song set. It's all downhill after that
Turn you demons into walls of goddamned noise and sound.

I was thinking to myself as we debarked on this trip, "Am I really going all the way to Texas for two shows?". The answer was yes, and it was well worth it. This show alone, though short, was jam packed and amazing. It was great catching up with folks and meeting a couple of others along the way. Another highlight was Patterson handing me a beer midset. May have been one of the best tasting Amstel Lights I've ever had.
When the lights came up we all went home but never quite the same.

Trying to be better about taking pictures of 3DD people and friends at the shows.
From left to right, top row: Bogart, Cole, myself, Uncle Rickey (Luke), Mr PA Heathen (Craig)
bottom row: PA Heathen (Karen) and Fool Nowhere (Todd, who was celebrating his 50th birthday a little early)
