Damn! This crew just keeps looking better and better. Gonna be a thing.
Reluctantly, our hero rises to the day, with a moan and a curse to an absent God.

Maybe a thing and a half. My tickets arrived and for some reason I bought two for Saturday, so ifGW in IA wrote:Damn! This crew just keeps looking better and better. Gonna be a thing.
anybody hears of someone looking, let me know. I must have been drunk or something.

I wish, but no. Y'all have fun.

Ahh, peer pressure, alive and well as a parent and an adult... And via an internet message board, none the less. I hate you guys! $300 round trip flights and I have a bunch of friends in Chicago.. The more I think about it, this is actually doable for me.

It was my fantastic wife idea, since she was jonesing for a DBT show as much as I was. Beth will be going on Friday and I will be attending on Saturday.
The other will be hanging with a 2 month old on alternating nights. We are glad to get out and see some DBT.
Looking forward to it!

I am very excited to get a two night stand at a new venue for DBT (and me) in Chicago! I have only heard great things about Thalia Hall. I have also heard good things about the restaurant, Dusek's, and the bar, Punch House, that are in the same building.
For those coming from out of town, the venue is 2 miles east of the relatively new, gigantic Lagunitas brewery. There is a taproom with a small but solid food menu and of course many tasty beers. It's a short cheap Uber ride from the venue and highly recommended. Both the venue and the brewery are short walks from the Pink line on the CTA also.

While it might not be as good as you can find in the South, there is some pretty damn good BBQ practically next door to Thalia Hall called Honky Tonk BBQ.

Simone's is a decent funky/artsy bar that is a couple blocks away with some decent food too.

As someone said earlier in the thread don't go venturing too far off 18th street if you're without your wits. The neighborhood has come a long way but especially points south and west you wouldn't want to be drunk, alone, stumbling with your wallet and cell phone in your hands after the show.
Nothing to really worry about if you use common sense.
Can't wait for these two shows! Happy to have an appetizer down in STL in 2 weeks.

What about parking in the area? Any tips? From Google Maps it looks like all street parking.chitowntrucker wrote:I am very excited to get a two night stand at a new venue for DBT (and me) in Chicago! It's hard for me to say. It hurts me to the core. But for once, I have to agree with Pornstache. This does just keep getting better!

Haven't been hanging around this board much this year, but definitely looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at the Chicago shows. Great venue, capacity of about 800, a lot smaller than the Vic. And I get to sleep in my own bed! Counting down the days to my first rawk shows of the year!

Street parking shouldn't be much of an issue within a 3-5 block radius of the venue.Eyes Above It wrote:What about parking in the area? Any tips?
