I wasn't sure about him at first, but he kinda grew on me.

Thanks Luke, great seeing you and the gang last night... odd having to negotiate seats, and seeing the Truckers open... until the next show.

Was great to get a nice long (75 minutes) opening set. Thought DBT looked and sounded great but I was not bowled over by the Shakes. I enjoyed them more when they were playing clubs a few years ago, but got to give them credit, Brittany is a star and they packed the house last night.

What a fun night, it was so great to see everyone!

Wow, Cooley playing a semi hollow body Telecaster?! Can't say I've ever seen that, what tune(s) did he play it on?

Sorry, I don't remember which song it was. But I have seen pics or vids of him playing it before, though not at any DBT shows.

He played it on maybe 2 or 3 songs in Greensboro Tuesday night as well. The biggest surprise for me was Patterson bringing out the 70's era gold Les Paul with the mini-humbuckers again. I don't think he's taken that out on tour in at least the past 5 years or so.

In Bloomington on Saturday he brought that guitar out and said they had "recently reconnected" after a falling out, or something like that. So yeah its definitely been a few years since he played that one.

Isn't that the one he broke the neck on? I figure getting back on speaking terms after that'd take flowers and a nice dinner at least.

When's the last time anyone saw PH play his hollow bodied Baxendale? Seemed to me that when he first got it it didn't want to stay in tune.

Could be the same thinline as seen on the pic at the bottom here.

Big thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Clams for hosting the tailgate. Great way to start a wonderful evening and to hang out with so many fantastic people. The left pitt was filled with 3DDers which was really cool. The boys came out strong and we immediately moved out of our seats to the front stage. It was like a private concert and I had a smile on my face through every song. Perfect, until the usher made us return to our seats and Uncle Ricky was none to pleased with her. We were close enough that it was still a fantastic time. Box of Spiders was the highlight for me and I was really happy that they played for such a long time being the opener.

Shakes were good. She has one hell of a voice! It was a different experience though than seeing them for the first time at the 930. I have a lot of good memories of that night. It was also nice to see how large their fan base has become. They certainly do deserve all the good things that have come their way. Hey Phungi, I never did hear your review of the Shakes fan to the left of you :P

Happiness really is a DBT show with good friends. Lets hope its not so long till the next show.
I just want to stay in that better time and place....

Had a great time seeing everyone. Left in the middle of the Shakes show to make the drive home, but I did enjoy what I saw of them. It is amazing how big they have become. Britney puts on a show. DBT was their usual great selves, but not used to seeing them open. I still have all the pretzels if anyone wants one.

I am confident in stating that my eyes were "trained forward" for the entire set. That said, I believe Clams has photos...

Hahaha. But the neck still turns right and left despite eyes "trained forward". Not judging....it was an entertaining, distracting and unique experience, to say the least!

He played it the first 4-5 shows I saw after he got it (I seem to remember it making it's debut at the Homecoming shows one year) but in later shows even when I saw it on the guitar stand side stage he didn't play it. I haven't seen it at all the last 3 shows (or so) I attended so I'm not sure he's even bringing it out on the road anymore.
