On this day in 1996, Drive-By Truckers recorded the versions of "Bulldozers and Dirt" and "Nine Bullets" that appeared on their first 45 rpm single as well as the version of "Margo and Harold" that would later appear on Pizza Deliverance. Per Patterson, also recorded during this session were early versions of "Zoloft" and "Careless." "Careless" was written the night before the sessions in memory of Chris Quillen (aka "Monster") who died in a car accident on May 26, 1996. He was originally supposed to be a member of DBT's.
