The guys were in a great mood tonight. It helped that the crowd was very well-behaved. Great show. Go see one of these shows if you can.

After the Columbia show, I was kind of hoping/dreading hearing the next Cooley cover:

I'm pretty much a noob with these guys...only show 15 for me. And I have to say last night at the Madrid was one of those had to be there moments. You could tell they were a tic apprehensive after the night before....a show I don't think they cared all that much for. They hit their stride early and never missed a beat. Call me crazy, but Loaded Gun might have been my favorite...but then we got Zip City....The story Patterson told before Hell No was classic. The one about Cooley driving the old van into Jackson Hole to play in some fucked up old bar....Saw both shows they did in Boulder on the first TDU. They were off the hook good.....and this topped both. Great venue too. Go see this...nobody does this stuff better.

Really hope they play Take Time To Know Her tonight. Love that song. I was so bummed when I heard Percy had passed.

I will be recording tonight...but don't think I'll be able to convert the recording for a few days. Mountains got dumped on this weekend and I need to get my skiing fix in. Would have gone today but wanted to make sure I was well rested for tonight!

Praying that people are quiet and respectful...and if not I hope Cooley tells the chatty folk to STFU.

Quick sample of my recording from last night in Boulder. FANTASTIC show. For the past few years I've been starting to lose interest in DBT (didn't think that was possible) ...last night resolved that problem. The encore was probably the SECOND best encore I've seen them do (my first show in 2004 still holds the top honor in that dept).

I'll try to get the rest of the recording finished this week. It sounds pretty good.

Yep, killer show last night! Although something happened before Pulaksi (can't recall what tune Patterson was playing).. There must have been someone off to the side of the stage and Cooley got raging mad.. It really pissed him off and seemed to alter the tone of the evening. There wasn't much banter or storytelling from the band after that.

I agree, last nights show was great. Jay continues to amaze me every time I see him, his ability to switch back and forth from keys to guitar really is a joy to watch. I was a little nervous about how the crowd would act after reading the reviews of the first two nights of the tour, but it seemed like most people kept it together for the most part. I thought that the story telling was a little on the light side but figured that maybe that was their solution to keep people quiet, just move quickly from one song to the next.

I thought he was yelling at one of the crew because the sound was screwed up. Specifically on his banjo.

But you're right - he looked pissed. He just yelled "PULASKI" with some serious force when he called out the next tune to play.

It was bad enough that Cooley had the whole band looking over their shoulder. I didn't get the impression that it had anything to do w the sound but I have no clue what it was about. But he was mad.

That said, it was great getting to hear cooley play so much banjo. And I thought the crowd was really well behaved, the band never had to say anything. And I believe today is Matt Pattons birthday.. So happy birthday Matt!

Jay was on fire last night! What an amazing talent. Picked up his new record at the merch booth. Haven't had a chance to put it on yet, but I hear it's fantastic.

I've been trying to NOT buy posters at the show because I have a huge pile of them still to frame...and even if I did get them finished I'm not sure I have a big enough house to fit them all in! ...I failed last night. Show was too good. The pile is a little bit taller today.

Tracking out the recording now. I might have it done later tonight. One of the hardest things about tracking out a great show is I can't skip through the songs to place the track marks...I end up listening to every song so it takes AT LEAST as long as the show to get it done. My Rangers are playing in about 15 minutes...so I'll have to take a break for the game. Still have a bunch of energy though...so hopefully I can finish it up after the game.
