Just got home. Had to drive through heavy rain and snow. Great show in Monterey, but I can do without "Ooh La La".

There is a TDU spring 2015 tour shirt in dark green. Can't find a picture.

Anyone want to take a crack at the Tough To Let Go lyrics? Most of them are pretty easy, but there is one section that I can't seem to make out.

Guess I'll start 'er off:

At the end of the day you can't change how you feel, but you try anyway, you try anyway
Look for the means to conquer your dreams, but your insides are quick to betray
You know right from wrong, but your bound to become just another..........?
Carry the weight of your wild expectations, but you know they won't fit through the door

It's tough to let go
When you're faced, but you can't deliver
You're not even sure who you are anymore

?Awoke from that house? that was more than familiar with someone else holding the keys
Cut loose from life and the pain and the strife as you're dragged right down on your knees
The guy in your room is a stranger asking you questions that you'll never know
You look out the window, the landscape is changing, who are these people you watch come and go

It's tough to let go
When you're faced, but you can't deliver
You're not even sure who you are anymore
It's tough to let go
But you know these things that you're holding on to
Are killing you faster, than you kill yourself

It's tough to let go
But you know it's time to cast all the parts
To take what you need to be part of this life
Take what you need to believe there is something new worth clinging to
But you'll never know until you leave

It's tough to let go

Pretty heavy song, and one of the highlights of the Boulder show for me.

So, uh, awesome show in Portland tonight. Not quite together enough to have a comprehensive set list available. However, I will dutifully report that Patterson announced that he and his family are moving to Portland in a few weeks! No late April Fool's joke, either; apparently they're pulling up stakes in Athens and heading out west. Not sure what that means for the band in the long term, but for sure that will mean much more frequent shows from Mr. Hood on the west coast. Sweet!

Andrew this is a really nice sounding recording. Thanks for posting it.

Tough To Let Go is a great little song. Sands of Iwo Jima is also fantastic with Matt gettin' down and Cooley doing double duty on the banjo and harp. I really liked the version of Women Without Whiskey. It's a keeper and nearly unrecognizable when it starts.

Really nice show in Seattle last night. They played at the historic Moore Theater-a 1419 seat venue built in 1909 for the Alaska Yukon exposition. Great acoustics and a beautiful room that was much nicer than the Showbox where they usually play in Seattle. Patterson commented on how much he liked this old building. Show was all ages and reserved seating which allowed me to take my 17 year old son to his first DBT concert. They didn't quite sell out he place though it was nearly full.

Stage was simple with the band’s gear and just a few lamps placed around the stage plus some Cooley bird screens behind. Band was seated throughout as typical for a TDU show. I saw the other TDU tour in 2007 and, as before, we experienced some obscure tracks and great stories I hadn’t heard before. Didn’t expect some of the rawk show war horses to get a TDU treatment but Lookout Mountain and Sinkhole both were both well served.

TDU tour is winding down now with just 2 dates left and Patterson and Cooley both commented that while it was nice to play sitting down for a change they were ready to get back out and ”shake their moneymakers”. Augurs well for the next few Rock Shows-I’m talking to you Gulf Shores, and Atlanta :-0

Interesting to hear Cooley tell the story of the first song he wrote for DBT (Panties in your purse) the same night Patterson told the story about his newest song ("written April 1") which came to him in a dream (Tough to let go). Patterson had the room in stitches with the story behind White Knuckle, West Virginia. I was unfamiliar with that song and my boy and I were still laughing on the way home about the band’s misadventures from 1997-“the huffer”, bad roads, sick band members and a snowy show in Lansing, MI. I’d never heard the Heathens story either. Also nice to hear him remember George A during Sands of Iwo Jima.

Sweet Baby Jay Gonzalez is really adding a lot to the band as well. His organ and keyboard brightened the new versions of the songs and he made some nice contributions on guitar as well (especially on Hell No I Ain’t Happy)

Ooh La La was a great closer with Cooley on Banjo. Really happy I got to hear it.

Here’s the set list: (* indicates especially good version, IMO)

8:09

Grand Canyon
Checkout time in Vegas
Do it to yourself
Self destructive zones
Sinkhole
*When the pin hits the shell
*Sands of Iwo Jima (w/story)
Uncle Frank
Lookout Mountain
72
It's tough to let go (with story)

Set 2
Birthday Boy
Daddy needs a drink
218 to Denver (with story)
*Heathens (with story)
Sounds better in a song
*The living bubba
Women without whiskey
4th night of my drinking
Panties in your purse (with story)
White knuckle in West Virginia (with great story)

Encore
Love like this
Hell no I ain't happy
Zip city
*Ooh la la

10:45

Somebody had a nice recording rig set up at the edge of the first balcony and the acoustics were good so I hope a tape of this show surfaces. It will be a good one.

Thanks for coming up the great northwest guys!

After several listens to this fine tape, I have a humble opinion. Neff's steel guitar work is missed most in this setting.
Agreed... the recording is really good. And btw, how nice is it to see Cottonseed back in the rotation?
Thanks so much Clams! I really enjoy hearing all the recordings.
