FYI, looks like Patterson Hood is giving a free talk at UGA Feb. 12th at 4:00pm on the books, music and movies that inspired him. Sure most homecoming fans (myself included) will be doing their warmup for the first show at the bars but for anyone interested in something a little different pre-concert, it might be interesting.

I'm sure many will be! But for those not as interested in riding the rail, it is another potentially interesting pre-show diversion. To each their own!

Yes. They're excited and looking forward to partying with their NY friend!!! This will be the 2nd Homecoming for the twins and 1st for my youngest, although they've all three seen the Truckers multiple times. The family that rocks together.....right?

Exactly lol. Though in her defense she told me the other day that I'm driving home no matter how hungover I am.

Funny story, I got so hammered the first night of our first Homecoming that I woke up the next day and thought I had the flu. I had forgotten how wicked a nasty PBR hangover could be.

I may be a newcomer, but have mixed emotions on this issue:

Avoid Swamp w/in 15 feet of any bar.

Well if there's any sliver of a silver lining to the fact that Swamp won't be there, it's that the chances of dealing with a killer hangover just went down by about 90%.

The biggest problem with those tall boys is that they warm up to room temperature when you still have half of it left to drink.* (Yes I know - I should just drink it faster).

I've never had one get even close to room temperature and I've taken as long as 4 minutes and 13 seconds to empty one.

After arriving late that first night and getting there while the opening band played and not meeting anyone at all and then waking up in that sordid Daze Inn, my first morning in Athens was immeasurably brightened by seeing The Swamps in the lobby having breakfast and knowing immediately on sight I had found my people.
