Sad to say that it looks like we will miss our first Homecoming in six years. Thankfully we did have a great weekend in Asheville to ease the pain. Hopefully there will be a stream to go along with your wild accounts of the proceedings so that we can stay in touch.

So, about PACING YOURSELF at Homecoming. I'm worried about this part. In most situations like this (festivals, multiple-night DBT shows in Richmond, etc.), I typically get crushed the first night and am a zombie slug the rest of the time. I very much want to avoid this, but I've never had much luck. Any strategies for HC? Will everyone be going hard 24/7, or will there be pockets of sanity? Guessing naps could play a prominent role, but never been to Athens so will want to explore. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks!
That's always been my MO too, but I will say that Athens has a kind of restorative quality, it just never seems as bad as it does in the real world. I think it may be more of a pace yourself daily approach. usually I sleep a little late, catch some breakfast somewhere, then crack a beer. That's where the pacing thing comes into play, for me at least.

Well if there's any sliver of a silver lining to the fact that Swamp won't be there, it's that the chances of dealing with a killer hangover just went down by about 90%. But basically GW is right: sleep late, lots of good coffee and a mid afternoon switch over to beer. And avoid the temptations of the Wisconsin crew.
