DBT in Asheville at the Peel on 1/16 & 1/17/15
Saw this on the Orange Peel's ticket Calender. Tickets on sale Friday at noon. Have not seen anywhere else. Can anyone say this is definite? Really hope this is happening, already have family in town that weekend that can babysit. WooHoo!!
Re: DBT in Asheville at the Peel on 1/17/15
Sounds about right. They did two nights there this year at about that time.
Re: DBT in Asheville at the Peel on 1/17/15
Last year was Feb right? Timing sounds about right but wonder why 1 night vs 2.

We'll probably try to swing this. This is about a 5 hour trip for us from Raleigh and with the drive/cost of hotel, etc., we may just wait for Homecoming a few weeks later...and we're not missing Homecoming lol.

Newsletter that just came confirms those dates. Will be there.
Re: DBT in Asheville at the Peel on 1/16 & 1/17/15
There you go, gonna try and swing both nights too.

Other than the show, sell me on Asheville in mid-January. Never been there.

Sure wish they would bring ole Sturgill with them to this one. He scheduled a show at a smaller venue here in town and it sold out in just a few hours.
Count me in for these two .

It's Asheville. It's the beating heart of the old and the new North Carolina.
Now it's dark.

We have absolutely zero business doing these shows less than a month after our three night Centro-Matic farewell excursion and not long before the possibility of Homecoming. No business at all. So naturally...

Really? Wow! That might get me there despite it all. I've never seen him perform.

Gregg Allman may be playing the Orange Peel at some point as he's playing the GA Theater and similar sized venues around the same time but I feel safe in saying there is ZERO chance he's opening for DBT.

Seen by a friend today in Asheville. She wasn't sure what to make of the mixed messages, so she pulled up alongside him at a street light and
I think it looks like a car belonging to one of the good guys, myself.

Often for these one-off western NC shows they'll bring up some of their Athens pals... a couple of years ago we had Bloodkin one night and Futurebirds the other. Neither one of those guys would surprise me. Or similarly maybe Pilgrim or Don Chambers or somebody like that.
Now, that said, and to add a little fuel to the fire.... Gregg Allman is playing the casino about 90 minutes from Asheville on the 16th, with NOTHING booked on the 17th.

But if you like beer, a great laid back city with good people, go. This is the microbrew capital of the east. Wicked weed is right next door. Few other breweries in town too. Would highly recommend making the trip. Coming from va beach for sure

Unfortunately we are OUT for these. Dogs, cars and other Rock trips all add up to us taking January off from the traveling.

Great food, great scene, great beer, great people. Seriously, can't go wrong with Asheville, ever... Lots of good beer downtown, Wicked Weed is popular with the out of towners, but if you do not get there early you will be standing in line outside because they are at capacity. Behind the Peel there are some great breweries with nice tasting rooms, Burial, Green Man, Hi Wire, Twin leaf. Check out One World, in the little alley beside Salsas(great mexican/carribean food) and down the stairs. Hard to find but worth it. Seven Sows is near the Peel if you like Bourbon and Pork. A little gem of a place to stay if coming in on a budget is Sweet Pea Hostel. Walking distance to the peel and has really nice bunk/pods. Not very old and we stay there every year for the Xmas Jam. Very Clean, nice showers, convenient to everything, quiet at night and very affordable.

Much like last year, I had planned on sitting these out due to the proximity to Homecoming. But my wife put tickets under the tree so I am IN.

White Duck Taco offers pretty good eats too. It's close to the Orange Peel
