I'd have to look it up, but it started with Zip City and ended with Angels and Fuselage. The encore was with the Hold Steady. I'm not sure who the gorilla was.

Re: What was the setlist for your first DBT show?
March 2008 at the TLA in Philly. No idea on the set list, but I remember that they grabbed my attention with Uncle Frank and Company I Keep, and by the time they were done with Buttholeville/State Trooper my fate was sealed.

Re: What was the setlist for your first DBT show?
Didn't realize how lucky I was at the time... setlists just aren't this EPIC any longer...
My biggest memory was doors opened at 7pm. There was no opener. DBT didn't take the stage until after 10pm.
Wife went with me, was 7 months pregnant, stuck out the whole night. She was a real trooper... Thank God she had a stool near the bar...

07. Zip City (fight broke out)
08. 18 wheels
09. Rockin in the Free World
10. People who Died
I found the set list on bt.etree.org. I went with one friend; he and I had been listening to SRO for months. We tailgated in a parking garage and got lots of funny looks; we were rednecks in Charlottesville. Much of the concert memories were pretty hazy the next day, but we knew that we'd found our favorite band and commenced to converting our friends! 9-20-08 was definitely a "Let There Be Rock" kind of night for me!
I wish I could remember what the "fight broke out" on Zip City was about. Maybe if i relisten to a recording of the show some memories will be stirred. Just thinking about that night has put a big smile on my face!

Re: What was the setlist for your first DBT show?
I have no idea but they did two short sets at the Local 506 in Chapel Hill on May 23, 2000 as part of Honkytonkarama; one on the main stage and one stripped down acoustic set next door at the Carolina Sports Lounge where they did an "Acapulco" version of "Bulldozers & Dirt". I have pro shot footage of their main stage set which needs to be transferred to DVD.
This shot of the set they did at the Carolina Sports Lounge ended up on the back cover of Alabama Ass Whuppin'. To put things in further perspective, Patterson was selling CD-R copies of Killers & Stars that were subtitled "First Draft, A Work In Progress" at the time. I also picked up a first pressing of the "Bulldozers & Dirt" single that night.

Re: What was the setlist for your first DBT show?
Mine was the Dirt Underneath show I did the lighting for at The State Theatre in State College, PA. I remember they opened with "The Home Front" (a song I will likely never hear live again) and they did The Living Bubba, My Sweet Annette, LTBR and others.
And I knew when I woke up Rock N Roll would be here forever

Sure was. Honestly, it all was sorta one big blur at the time.
I was only familiar with Decoration Day and I think The Dirty South had just come out.
For me anyway, Live isn't always the best place / setting to hear a song for the first time.
Wish I could go back in time and do this again with the intimate knowledge of the music that I have now...

Re: What was the setlist for your first DBT show?
I'm pretty sure this was my first one. I was a senior in college and after downloading a DBT show off of NPR I decided that I needed to seem them ASAP. The nearest show was in Chicago. Cue the epic road trip.

Met Uncle Rickey and Cooleygirl in the queue (they were at the front ), who were discussing how dangerous the area where the show in Birmingham the next day was. Put them right on a few misconceptions and then ended up on the rail with them.

Horrible sound and thankfully I had a ticket for the next show in Birmingham otherwise I might never have fallen for the band. The second show opened with Lookout Mountain and I ended up getting very drunk after the show with Uncle Rickey, Cooleygirl and Craig and some guy who had come down from Newcastle for the show - it was Uncle Rickey's birthday.

Re: What was the setlist for your first DBT show?
I'm positive this setlist is incomplete since the show was during the SRO tour and there are no SRO songs listed. That said…here's what setlist.fm has for my first show.

Re: What was the setlist for your first DBT show?
10/28/04 Iowa City - U of Iowa Wheelroom
No beer served at the venue explains the "shorter" set list for the times.
Clearly, The Dirty South had just come out.
Tornadoes
Where the Devil Don't Stay
The Day John Henry Died
The Buford Stick
Sink Hole
Cottonseed
Never Gonna Change
The Sands of Iwo Jima
Putting People on the Moon
Carl Perkin's Cadillac
Daddy's Cup
Steve McQueen
Nine Bullets
Lookout Mountain
Grandaddy
Goddamn Lonely Love
Marry Me
Pulled the list off of archive.org. I am lucky enough, that every show I have been to has been taped, and put on there.

Re: What was the setlist for your first DBT show?
First time I saw them was at the City Stages festival in B'ham, the summer before TDS came out. I remember we got Let There Be Rock, Where the Devil Won't Stay, Boys from Alabama...
First real time seeing them in a club was at Tipitina's in NOLA the weekend before the TDS release shows (which I was at the Friday show). Opened with "WTDWS", huge setlist, got the debut of "Back of a Bible", "In the Midnight Hour", pretty much all of TDS and most of DD, and they closed with Steve McQueen.
