July 6, 2007 - High Sierra Music Festival, Quincy California

It was only my second year at the festival and it seemed like many people were very afraid of the Truckers. They took the stage and started the rock show and many of the older hippies decided to call it a night. I loved it, a very memorable moment was a guy decided to strip down to nothing and run to the rail in front of the stage, Patterson made some nice remarks about people keeping their clothes on, especially if they are guys, it was classic! From that show on I was 100% in.

The Living Bubba
Gravity's Gone
Sink Hole
Uncle Frank
Puttin' People on the Moon
Marry Me
The Opening Act
Self Destructive Zones
Lookout Mountain
Dead, Drunk, and Naked
Guitar Man Upstairs
A World of Hurt
A Ghost to Most
Heathens
Women Without Whiskey
Road Cases
Let There Be Rock
Buttholeville
State Trooper

Couldn't find it, but it was on St. Patty's Day a couple years ago, and it was snowing and the opening act didn't make it. Some lady walks out, makes the announcement, and DBT comes out and starts early, rocked the joint for what seemed like 2 hours solid, never stopping, no breaks and no guitar swapping (except one amp failure for Patterson). Just plain blew the place up! I know Zip City was in there somewhere.....

Oh, yeah. Neff was on pedal steel.

Taped by our very own Mark Lynn. I'm guessing my experience was similar to many here. I entered with an interest in the band. I left a stone cold convert. This was June 2007 - I think this is a 2 months after Isbell left the band.

Bulldozers and Dirt
Uncle Frank
After The Scene Dies
A Ghost To Most
The Living Bubba
Two Daughters and a Beautiful Wife
Marry Me
Lookout Mountain
Self Destructive Zones
Tales Facing Up
18 Wheels Of Love
Zip City
The Story Of The Road Cases
Road Cases
Shut Up And Get On The Plane
Let There Be Rock
Angels And Fuesalage
Buttholeville->State Trooper->Buttholeville

Two Daughters, A Ghost To Most and After The Scene Dies were all unreleased songs at this point.
By the time you drop them I'll be gone

Short but intense. I couldn't believe that a band so great had slipped under my radar. They opened up the Fest @ noon on the side stage. By the end of the night I had seen the New Pornographers, Keane, the Raconteurs, the Killers, the Flaming Lips, the Red Hot Chili Peppers & the Who; but all I kept thinkin' about was that band with the funny name. Sadly, it was the only time I saw them with Jason.

Um, if you don't get hooked after THIS as your first show, you have no soul.

22) Louisiana 1927
23) Road Cases
24) Shut Up and Get on the Plane
25) Keep on Smilin'
26) Lookout Mountain
27) The Living Bubba

They'd played there the night before. I drove down from Norfolk solo and hung out out front for a bit. Saw Jason smoking a cig out in the street, alone. Show was incredible. I found a spot up in the bench area in front of the tapers - it was a perfect sight/sound view for a first show. I told the tapers (people I didn't know then but I'm sure I know now) I was likely to be loud, and they basically said, "No problem man, enjoy the show!" And boy did I. I think it was The Moaners who opened (all girl band) and they were very good. Steve McQueen opener - phew! Cooley was pretty shitfaced, and could barely get through Daddy's Cup. The Southern Thing (with long intro), Rebels, Louisiana 1927 (they shared verses, if I recall correctly), and Keep on Smilin' (maybe that was the one where they shared verses). TLB closer. Drove home that night at 2am, got home at 5am, slept 'til 7am, and woke up knowing my world had changed.

Can't remember if I was at that show or not (don't really keep score as some folks do) but I'm pretty sure I saw the Moaners open for 'em at the Cradle once. That band was Melissa Swingle (of Trailer Bride) and Laura King (formerly of Grand National, among others). Melissa's back to doing a full band thing and is gearing up to release a new album. Laura's in a punk rock/thrash outfit called Flesh Wounds. If you're so inclined, I highly recommend seeking out Melissa's work with Trailer Bride.

The Truckers and the Moaners were two of several bands filmed for this documentary but I'm not sure whatever became of it.

Yeah, you had to be an early bird to catch that worm. My buddy wanted to tailgate in the parking lot; but I had downloaded Never Gonna Change when scouting the show & was pretty sure I was gonna like those guys. I hurried his ass along & we made it just as they were coming on. So glad I didn't dilly or dally.

Holy Shit! Now that's a setlist!

God that was a great show. Not my first but still might be my favorite. The length of the show is crazy given that they played the previous night (morning really) after Patti Smiths New Years Eve show. If memory serves me the show on NYE started at 2am.

"Louisiana 1927".....wow.
