Should be arriving around 630-645ish. I'm flying solo so keep your eyes out for a tall, young guy in boots and black glasses that looks like he's lost. :D

Small dance floor. Most of the club is tables and chairs. There will be a video guy in a trolley taking up half the stage on Cooley side

Just a heads up, those of you coming in via 78, traffic is backed up at the Bethlehem interchange. You may want to leave a little early.

Awesome show tonight! This venue in Bethlehem is awesome to see a show. DBT absolutely brought the rawk. From Made Up English Oceans (which surprised me as an opener) to Play it all Night Long, this was one of my favorite shows. My first ever Box of Spiders was a curveball and easily the highlight of the night. Love what they did to this one. Uncle Rickey's setlist doesn't say it all. DBT were psyched to play here. What a fun night. Thank you Grace, Danielle, Jason, and Nutfat for an incredible time.

That has to be one of the coolest venues I've ever seen (from the pics).

The best way I can describe this show was fun. It was a very unique and interesting venue. The drinks were good, but food service for us standing room only folks was at best spotty, unless you were Clams. The back drop of the abandoned steel stacks behind the stage was awesome. As someone who grew up in a steel worker family, this place was right on target though a little eerie. Walking through a half abondoned old steel mill with newer buildings slowly revitalizing the area (a skating rink with bar attached and the ArtsQuest center) was an odd experience.

The band certainly seemed to have fun and enjoy themselves. The show was being filmed for a public access channel (?). I'm very curious to find out which one and watch.
When the lights came up we all went home but never quite the same.

The venue was great and the setlist was interesting. My Cooley highlights were Sounds Better In A Song and Birthday Boy. My Hood highlights were Puttin' People On The Moon, Used To Be A Cop and Box Of Spiders. I'd really like to see Isbell play at this venue. Also, Hell No I Ain't Happy was spectacular.

I'm not sure what any of you guys look like, so I didn't know who to look for. I had a great time nonetheless, but would like to meet some of you in the future!

Has Cooley dropped Hearing Jimmy Loud already? It's one of my favorites off EO and a smoker live!

Can't argue about what has been said, it was a very cool venue, and the sound was excellent... The first thing Patterson said when walking on stage, looking at the purple monolithic steel plant illuminated in the giant window behind the stage was "this is pretty cool"

The photo doesn't do it justice, but you can see the purple highlights in the background.

Yes it does seem like fewer of the English Oceans songs are being played lately. Another trend seems to be these shorter shows. Last night there was no opener, and they came on just after 730 (!) and finished up just before 930 (!). The early finish was actually kinda nice considering the long rainy drive home (Bethlehem's about 65 miles north of Philly).

As for the venue, yeah it was pretty cool. It's on the site of the old Bethlehem Steel mill and furnaces. The furnaces and stacks are still standing but the rest of the site, which is along the Lehigh River, has been converted from old warehouses and factories into offices/industrial space and an entertainment complex - casino, skating rink, movie theaters, the Musikfest Cafe, etc. The cafe is up on the third floor of this big old warehouse, with the stage along a huge wall of 20-foot high windows, and directly behind the windows are the huge Bethlehem Steel smokestacks and furnaces which are lit up in this eery purple/bluish light, and that's basically the backdrop behind the stage and big windows. Cooley commented that it was probably the coolest backdrop they've ever played in front of. If you're on facebook, most of the band and crew have posted pics. I think Jonicont has a bunch too - come on John, get off your ass and post em! And the room itself had an opening in the middle right in front of the stage, and the rest of the floor on both sides of the stage was taken up by these long cafeteria style dinner tables, and pretty much every table and seat was taken. A kinda weird set up, but it worked!

As for the show, the highlights for me were an upbeat version of Daddy Needs a Drink (dedicated to all the parents), a rousing Let There be Rock, plus on the Cooley side, Sounds Better in The Song is such a gem. I loved Play it All Night Long to close the show but I talked to a few folks after the show who haven't seen the band lately and were disappointed not to hear Grand Canyon. Oh well, I guess you can't please everyone. I should also comment that Matt D really did a great job - the sound was perfect, you could hear every note. Lots of good 3dd folks were in attendence too.

That's about it! It was my 9th and final rock show of the year (three in Athens plus Wilmington, Lancaster, State College, Baltimore, Philly and Bethlehem). Thank you DBT for bringing the rock, hope to see you again next year.

And a special note to Guinness: I did not (knowingly) eat your fuckin cheeseburger! Phungi and I arrived just before showtime and ordered up some burgers at the bar and five minutes later the bartender puts two burgers in front of us and says Here you go. We say Awseome, are you sure they're ours? She says Yep I'm sure! So we commence to chowing down on said burgers. Next thing I know, Guinness walks up and and says he's been waiting like 45 minutes for his burger and he starts eyeballing my burger and says it's his. LOL. I was like, bummer man and sorry if it's yours but she gave em to us and anyway, I'm half done with it. I'm not sure if Guinness ever got his burger. Let me say this: if that was his burger - which I do NOT admit- it wasn't my fault. That said, Guinness' next burger is on me. :D

while this was, indeed, an awkward and unfortunate moment, it did spawn a great line by Clams, to Guinness, just as they started the song:

"Daddy Needs a Burger"

Gotta love an enthusiastic review but there's something just a little funny about naming 13 out of 18 songs as "highlights" (by my very unofficial count). Then again, it is DBT we're talking about so I suppose that's probably accurate reporting.

Damn Clamsie, can you give a guy some time to drive home. I was there to have fun so only a few cell phone shots. As has already been said, Kudos to Matt D. Odd shaped room, 3 stories of glass and steel girders, sounded great. I'm sorry Clams but as Patterson has already verified, it was,is and always will be your fault. Highlight was rockin' out with Clams to Let There Be Rock (and Matt D admonishing to stop shaking the computer monitor) and down front for Play It All Night Long. Piss, Shit, Jizz, Blood indeed.

We had a great time last night, our son Carl loved it. We had a bunch of our buddies there that never saw them before and they had a great time. It was nice seeing everybody, glad to meet Clams and PAHeathen and Jonicont. Good seeing Guinness again after a couple of years. Carl took a video of Let there Be Rock and as soon as we get it uploaded we will post it. Joe got to say Molly Hatchet and had a great birthday.
