St.Louis show this Sunday July18th.
Anyone from here gonna make this show? I was almost afraid to start a thread...since it will obviously be standing in the shadow of the Dekalb thread, the way it's panning out.
But anyway, I'll be there....although I might leave when Petty starts up.

Sweet! We're on the lawn. Just couldn't afford "good" seats to this venue.
Re: St.Louis show this Sunday July18th.
I'm thinking about going and grabbing a lawn seat. But I'll take off after DBT. TP is fine, but I've got a busy day Monday.

Lawn seat here as well. Hope to meet some folks.

Re: St.Louis show this Sunday July18th.
LOL! I sent Wrekkr a text about a sideboob that my gf brought to my attention. Show was really good, but not nearly long enough for a DBT fan. Get Downtown just absolutely ROCKED!!!! I only got a couple pics, and none of them were of the band, since I was so far back. I would really rather be in a smaller venue, but beggars can't be choosers. Petty was pretty good, too...but we didn't stay for the whole show. We decided to jet when we noticed a thunderstorm heading that way. Not sure if it actually hit the venue or not.
My $10 beer shot.

Re: St.Louis show this Sunday July18th.
Campbell came back out for the encore and there's an update on Petty's site that says he's doing well.
The gang was great and the crowd really responded to them. Of course, when they took the stage, the crowd was still trickling in, but by the next to last song, folks in front of us were standing up, cheering, throwin' devil horns and thumbs up and hollerin' "one more" "one more!"
The sound was incredible - I heard every single note from every single instrument - fanfuckingtastic.
It was hot as fuck - I drank two HUGE lemonades and I don't usually drink sugar at all. The sun was shining right into the bands' eyes. Patterson made a joke about asking the "lighting" guy to turn down that big, white light.
Then, as soon as the sun went down, the actual stage lights were baking them. It's no wonder Campbell passed smooth out. He was still holding his guitar when they walked him offstage.
That was the first time I've ever seen Petty. I didn't have great expectations based on the reviews I've read so far, but I actually enjoyed the show.
He did play standards, but I really loved hearing "Breakdown" and "Don't Come Around Here No More."
He did a set of the new stuff that JimmyC called "refreshingly good." I concur.
We missed the encore b/c we wanted to leave in time to get back to the hotel to watch Squidbillies - which was ALSUM!
One of the interesting parts of the show (to me) was a sign-language interpreter in front of Cooley. I've never seen one at a rock show. There were two interpreters who switched off after each song. The funniest thing was that during the instrumental part, the interpreter actually danced and played air guitar and air drums. There was one middle-aged, heavy-set blond who just "sort of" strummed what must have been an acoustic "air guitar." Her counterpart, however, was a little younger with long-brown hair that was flying as she danced her ass off on "Women without Whiskey". She was loving it. I don't know if they worked for the venue or if they are travelling with the tour. I was also wondering if they had been given lyrics beforehand...given that the band doesn't have a setlist, and could pull from their vast catalogue - that would be incredibly hard for the interpreter to learn all the lyrics...My roommate is an interpreter and he said generally they are given the lyrics beforehand so they can prepare. I wish I had know enough sign language - I was watching her during "Shut Your Mouth and Get Your Ass on the Plane." I would love to be able to sign that.
All around great time and nice to see the band in that setting. They looked great, sounded great, and seemed to really be enjoying themselves.

OH, I almost forgot! I got a pic of "The Dude" from Big Lebowski! He was sitting right in front of us!! (my apologies to "The Dude" if you are a member here.)
For those that have never seen the show, here's a screenshot. This guy had on the same shorts and everything!!!
