Well it appears that the gears of the universe are aligning and we're about 90% IN for this show. Anyone else?

I bought my four-and-a-half-dollar Megabus ticket from Memphis to Atlanta to Birmingham to Memphis to make the Atlanta and Birmingham (with Girl Talk!) shows, but I'm no longer certain I can take the day off to get to Atlanta. A pity--the Tabernacle is a hell of a good venue, based on the one show (Pretenders) I saw there.
The sooner we put those assholes in the grave&piss on the dirt above it, the better off we'll be

Funny thing about those gears...

I'm attending a bachelor party for a friend and just learned the venue will be the 17th Annual EGGtoberfest on October 11th in Atlanta. I looked up tour dates and wouldn't you know it, there's a Rock Show the night before! Wrangling a whole group into going to a concert might be a tall order but I'll do my best.

Thinking about it. Would love to. That all-day drive back from B'ham on Sunday is a bit of a drag, about 9 1/2 for me. Would be eaiser to pull the trigger if I could find something worth doing on Thursday evening about halfway to Atlanta.

Mrs ScottyC and I will be there and hopefully at sidebar before the show. Great venue and right near a Marta stop.

Obviously in since it's 20 minutes from my house. Bringing all 3 of my daughters (stay away from my daughters you Heathens) and at least a couple other friends. There's a sports bar called Stats right across Olympic Park for a possible pregame spot that has reasonable prices, unlike the venue. How about it all you Atlanta area 3DDers, what other cool bars are down in that area? Oh, and BTB, there's a Legal Seafood franchise too so you can get your daily chowdah fix ;)

Cool laid back little bar called the sidebar about 3 blocks from Tabernacle that is very affordable.

Legal has been running a series of commercials lately about how they're not a chain. I think it comes from the comcast school of advertising. You know, just like comcast figures that the best way to fight their horrible service record is to make commercials saying that their service is good because that's much easier than actually fixing their service, Legal apparently feels that being a chain is not a good thing so they'll make commercials saying they're not (despite the fact that they obviously are). I would say that I don't understand it but unfortunately this sort of thing works a lot more often than it should. You can't fight "progress" - I still go to Legal on occasion and generally it's pretty good but being as old as I am, I remember the original which was a true and unique Boston institution and it's ludicrous to claim it's the same (though I do think the chowdah recipe is probably the same or at least quite similar). Which could all be read as a long way of saying that unfortunately I will not be there.

Sidebar is the only answer for pregame. Jukebox, Cuban Sammie's and regularly see performers pre show there.

We've been using this place lately for pre-gaming since its only a block away from the Tab, great burgers and beer lists don't hurt either - http://www.parkbaratlanta.com/

I'm ticketed for this one. Really excited to see St. Paul & Broken Bones. I'm almost more excited for the opening set then I am for the rock show.

I love those guys. It was fun to watch their progression last year seeing them first a few times as an opener, then a couple times in front of small crowds (50 or less) and then in front of about 600 when they came to Jackson last. Good guys and a great band. I had forgotten they were opening this show. Yet another reason I'm glad we were able to make this work.

To get ready for Friday night, I'm listening to every album chronologically. 3 (dimes) down, 8 or 9 records go, depending on your viewpoint. I may need to get a life. Nah.

What email?

I'd guess the former and would be surprised by the latter, but that's just a guess/personal reaction.

Haven't had a Rock Show since HeAthens Homecoming 2014. Especially excited to hear how the English Oceans songs have evolved. Itinerary for tomorrow: leave work at noon; nap; drink; rock. See everyone at Sidebar for pregame. I'll be the old bald guy with his daughters. Come say hello.
