DBT Mix Tape

Post by Markalanbishop »

Drunken (is that a word?) mix tape made tonight on iTunes. Only rule is you have to alternate Hood/Cooley songs. Try to keep it around 20 songs. Sorry, no Jason allowed for this particular game. Take it up with TC. :D

Don't fret, I've been working on an intro mix for a friend for the past couple years that I'm having trouble keeping under 50 tracks.

It was fun riding around doing my Saturday errands and listening to my playlist. Especially since I couldn't remember what I put on it. ;) It was also interesting to hear the songs juxtaposed in an unusual way--the different eras, the different studio approaches, etc.

Aaah the mixtape...a favorite pastime of years gone by. If I was making a mix to turn someone on to DBT I would go with this:

Plastic Flowers on the Highway
Shit Shots Count
The Company I Keep
3 Dimes Down
The Living Bubba
Women Without Whiskey
Ray's Automatic Weapon
Where the Devil Don't Stay
Santa Fe
Uncle Frank
Opening Act
Birthday Boy
A World of Hurt
Love Like This
Bulldozers and Dirt
First Air of Autumn
Puttin' People on the Moon
Zip City
Heathens
Guitar Man Upstairs
I keep it all together for the sake of the kids.

Maybe even 3 or 4, who's counting? Now it'll have to be reconfigured due to the new record. I don't think my friend is too keen on DBT's anyway but at least I'll have a go-to best of for future reference.

And it only took me about 90 seconds. btw - this mix wasn't a best-of or favorites, but to get phungi ready for his first rock show - i.e., these are the songs they are most likely to play outside of English Oceans which he already has.
