Lockn' Music Festival, Sept 4-7

Post by Rocky »

If you hadn't heard they are having a 2nd one of these. I'm starting to think the promoters are getting this thing down. Here is who they have six months before the start time

Bob Weir & RatDog
Gary Clark Jr.
Phil Lesh & Friends
Steve Winwood
The Allman Brothers Band
The String Cheese Incident
Widespread Panic
Willie Nelson

Could be one of ABB's last gigs. I am in for this. Can somebody change the thread title to Sept. 4-7?

They just announced Grace Potter & The Nocturnals.

Again this is 6 months before start time. This line up will only get better as we get closer.

This is a lot of people all potted up, thank goodness Wilco was added to balance it.

I wish Wilco fans would take more!

(Wilco fans, dad rock, middle aged to older middle aged white males,...you're telling me the stereotypical SCI fan is similar to the stereotypical Wilco fan? If not, don't steal the thunder from my joke, please!) :D

The biggest Wilco fan I know is an old-school Deadhead who lives 30 minutes west of Philly. She went to Chicago for the residency & waited outside in the middle of winter for 5 nights so she could be up front every night.

I saw Jeff Tweedy solo last December at the Moore in Seattle with a bunch of big fans who are also big Neil Young fans. Pretty sure they are all acquainted with the pleasures of garfong.

I wouldn't know about the average SCI fan because I walked far away from the stage during their sets last year at Lockn Festival. They were the one act there that I dislike.

This comment rubs me in the wrong way for some reason. Just saying. And no, I'm not a huge Wilco fan, or middle aged quite yet. Well maybe I am.

Interesting comments from Butch Trucks:

I'm a little perturbed because at Lockn' and Mountain Jam they've got us locked in. At Mountain Jam we're supposed to be playing the first two albums in sequence and at Lockn' we're supposed to be playing At Fillmore East in sequence. I don't know; it just doesn't seem right to me. This is our last year touring and we have to go out with Warren and Derek and play songs that they weren't even around for but I'd like to play a lot more of the stuff that they have been a part of. We'll see what happens; I don't like being tied down like that. If you've been following us you know that we'll get up every night and you'll never know what we're going do. I never know what we're going to do [laughs] and that's one of the things that keeps it fun and interesting and keeps you on your toes because we might pull something out of the bag that we haven't played in a long time and you might have to actually stop to think about it.

i meant it to be funny, speaking in stereotypes and generalities of Wilco v the rest of the bands on the lineup.

Obviously BillinCt proved me completely wrong with the story of his die hard Wilco fan in Philly. :D

My friends raved about this festival last year, but I didn't go. I've been completing a graduate degree and that fact coupled with a three year old and another child on the the way, has hampered my music festival experiences. However, I"m done with school in a few weeks, and I believe that my wife got me a Locken ticket as a graduation gift...the ticket along with the green light to go will definitely be the best one I've ever gotten!!!! I found this out and found out DBT are playing all in the same day.
