Craig posted a pic from a DBT show in the NYC area recently. Assume he was there (cell phone picture). We need another tour! I was at the one in 2008 in Tallahassee, but had to leave after DBT and missed THS.

Yes, it is outdoors. The shows are usually in the early evening on the weekends. The summerstage is kind of like a patio area attached to the Pony. It has greater capacity than the club itself. I don't know how they handle rain, whether they move it inside or keep a roof over the stage.

I told myself I'm not doing this. I already saw the Hold Steady in one of the most ass kickings shows of the year at the Abby Bar in Harrisburg. And, I've already seen DBT twice and will be seeing them again in Lancaster, a lot for an old as shit light weight like myself. Looks like I'm doing this.

We're in, but my luck with outdoor shows is not that great. I will give you all the forewarning now to be on the lookout for rain.

Also, I will be in need of a good hotel in the area to book. Any suggestions?

Ok, yesterday I booked the pre-game.

I have reserved the party area at The Silver Ball Museum for the afternoon before the show. http://silverballmuseum.com/ The Silver Ball Museum has around 100 vintage pinball machines. I am trying to get some swag so we can have a pinball tournament to raise some money for Nuci's Space.

We can bring our own drinks and food.

That place looks really cool! Nice that we can bring our own food and drinks. I bought a ticket and booked a hotel last night. IN :)

Hey Rev. What's the parking deal near the venue? Meters, street, all day lots? So who's a pinball wizard?

Hey there! Glad to know you guys are in for the Asbury Park show. I'm not familiar with the area at all, but I booked the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel on hotels.com last night. Etienne and our boys won't be going to the show, but they're coming up to hang out on the beach. Our hotel is right on the beach, and is a short stroll to the pre-game party as well as the venue.

I'll look forward to seeing you there! :)

Edit - that was supposed to be a PM. oh, well.

The parking is plentiful between Labor Day and Memorial Day. A total pain in the ass between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Plan on paying beach rates to park your car. The good news is that there is a a whole lot within walking distance. The venue is across the street from the boardwalk. The Asbury Park boardwalk connects with the boardwalk in Ocean Grove, a Victorian town that is still and active Methodist camp meeting. Downtown Asbury Park is just a short walk from the venue. Plenty of cool restaurants, stores, bars and nightlife.

We will find out who the pinball wizards are. I have two months to come up with prizes and swag, hopefully some really cool NJ related rock and roll stuff. Using my contacts to see if I can get some signed vinyl or cd's from bands like The Smithereens, Monster Magnet, etc...

Pretty sure there's a Dazed Inn (Athens style) close by. I'll take a look and post some rates etc later.

Holy Crap, this day is shaping-up, glad I took the plunge. I envision a pinball tournament, while Loud Day performs Pinball Wizard (someone will need to spell the Rev on keys when it's his turn on the flippers). All this while we enjoy emandrisdad's home brew. And, I'm certain Bruce will show-up for both the Pinball tournament and a duet of Atlantic City with Craig Finn. I know he's in the middle of his tour, but he could make a special trip for this special New Jersey event. I can't freakin wait

I booked a room at the Berkeley for a little more. I'm sure it will suck and I over paid, but it's a 7 minute walk to the Stone Poney and the Pinball Museum. This way, I can help polish-off that sixtel, and not worry about driving. This is working out too easy, something will go wrong.

Booked at the Berkeley as well. Alisonsdc, we'll have to meet up since our be husbandless at the show. Mine always leaves me for the too important bar.

Are doors at 4:00 or is the show at 4:00?

When will the pinball tournament start?

If everything goes as planned, this will be show 150 for UR and I.
