Hoping they finally get to do The Tonight Show now that Fallon is hosting
He already has The Avett Brothers booked (he's championed them hard) and he's been good to DBT as well

Sweet!!!! I like enough of the new songs that it doesn't matter what they play.

Drive-By Truckers' new album is English Oceans, which also sounds like a great old-timey cologne.

Oh, dear god. They've got Kristin Chenoweth that night, too. Be still my beating heart.

My prediction is Made Up English Oceans

That's my guess too.
Does anybody know why they've never been on SNL? Do bands have to pay to be on there or what? Given all the total horseshit they have on 90% of each season, they could really use something REAL like our boys. Plus, it would be great exposure for 'em. I'm sure there's gotta be a lot of politics involved re: who they so "graciously" allow on...

SNL's goal is to get ratings, not push bands. They're not taste-makers

I'm guessing Hearing Jimmy Loud. It rocks, it's catchy, just the right tempo to grab someone who isn't a fan already.
I love Til He's Dead or Rises but it seems like maybe its just a tad slow for this. Jimmy has the better pace for this I think.
Made Up English Oceans doesn't seem like a great fit to either. I love the song but it doesn't seem like what you would play for somebody if you could only play them one song off of the record. Even if the title does come from this song.

It would be great exposure for them and it is about the only thing that could get me to watch SNL these days. That show is a sad shell of its former self. Has been for years in my opinion.

To be fair, we are talking about a bad that played Two Daughters and a Beautiful Wife on Conan, which was a terrible choice. By far the worst TV performance of their career.

Not always the case. Well, there goal always was to get ratings but they did used to pride themselves on promoting up and coming bands. But I'm going back a long way in saying that.

They were tastemakers once I'd say that's 25 years gone. They just aren't willing to take those risks.

Yeah I forgot about that. I also seem to remember them playing Aftermath U.S.A. For a TV appearance back during the ABAAC days. I love that song but it seems like they had a little trouble pulling it off from what I remember. I believe Patterson said as much later on and said that they probably should have chosen a different song.
I still think it will be Hearing Jimmy Loud.

Too many "shits" for national TV. Even though though the rest of us probably don't give a shit.

Gotcha, I know the rules are more loose on cable but I don't watch his show enough to know what they allow.

Yeah, I've heard Conan and some guests say shit a few times, not sure if there's a count or something that they can't go over, but it might be a cool opportunity to play SSC on tv since they surely couldn't play it on the networks without editing.

A little digging shows that you can indeed say "shit" on cable TV. Some programs still avoid it in case they were to ever run on broadcast TV, but obviously that doesn't apply to Conan. I should have consulted the Google first. In my best Emily Litella voice; never mind.
