Yep, finally coming back to Sac! I saw them last time when Ace of Spades was The Empire, had a great time. Although I am not a huge fan of this venue, I will take it! Would have rather seen them at the Assembly or even Harlow’s, but I will take what I can get. Should be a great time.

We will make do. Saw Calexico there a couple of years ago, seemed fine.

Agreed. it will be great, did not mean to sound like it wouldn't be, I am happy they are back in town and on a Saturday as well. There are a number of spots nearby that we can all meet up at for a beer and or food before the show, I might try to get that together as the date approaches. Could be fun to put some faces to the posts we are all reading.

Harlow's would be fantastic, but no way could fit a crowd of that size, I don't think.

The 2008 show you are referencing was my very first.

I've heard good things about Assembly. Harlow's is the best room in town. I'm just glad they are playing in Sac again.

I agree Sactochris, I have been recruiting friends from all over the state to head up for this one. It will be great, and I am stoked for the 12th in Berkeley with Willie as well!

Three weeks folks! I'm thinking about perhaps hosting a pre show get together at a private cigar lounge that's five blocks from the gig. Who would be interested in some top shelf liquor and premium cigars?

Hello all. Long time lurker here.

Long time DBT fan. I live in Utah, but just happen to be working in northern California at the time of this show. So I will be making the trek down on the 25th. So fucking excited. My last show was Las Vegas in 2010. First show was in 2006.

DBT doesnt come to Utah anymore. There was a huge fight that caused them to stop performing at a show in SLC in May of 2009. They haven't been back since. Although, Patterson did come for a two night solo stand last year, which was amazing.

Anyway. I'm thrilled to see them again. Shovels and Rope will be an awesome opener. Can't wait. Hope to meet a few of you there.

So, supposing--just theoretically, now--that if I were to leave San Mateo at 6 pm for this show, would I get there in time?

Indeed. And it's a nearly two-hour drive, plus I'd be starting at six on a Friday afternoon, minus there's an opening band. But being that close at that time would just kind of kill me to miss.

I'd figure them coming on at 9:00 or 9:30. I think you could do it.

Heading that direction on a Friday evening is always a mess, John.
I have been heading into the city for a show many times and seen highways
turn into parking lots trying to get out of town.

Traffic can be bad heading out of the bay area, especially on a Friday. I am not sure if you are planning on driving back Friday night after the show or staying in a hotel John. But if you are planning to stay (the only reason I say this is because I believe the last train is usally abround 10pm) I would recommend taking Amtrack in, it drops you off at 5th and H streets. That is not far from the venue, just a thought.

He'd still have to get to Emeryville, though, wouldn't he? Once you get that far, the rest of the drive isn't nearly as bad as crossing that damn bridge.

You are correct, he would have to get there. I just know many times where 680 comes into 80 (Fairfield or Vacaville) can be a cluster fuck too. Pretty much just a pain any way you look at it. I will post any other ideas if I come up with them.

From San Mateo this is an option, but on Friday evenings the Altamont pass
can backup big time. Get a traffic update, make your best choice, and go for it.
If you are gonna be in the bay area, get to Sacramento.

Here's some good traffic info for those driving up from the Bay Area that day:

http://www.sacbee.com/2014/04/07/6304695/qa-freeway-closures-delays-detours.html

East-bound traffic is going to experience big delays during rush hour on the Capitol City freeway through the center of town (business 80).

You can avoid the worst of it, I think, like this:

Once across the Yolo Causeway, take business 80E.

Take the Jefferson Blvd/Downtown exit.

Keep left toward downtown.

Cross the drawbridge.

Turn right at the first light once you are over the bridge.

Turn left onto N St, which is the next street.

Turn right onto 15th St. The club is at 15th and R. (on R between 14th and 15th, to be exact)

yer welcome

I gave this very serious thought, leaving from Santa Clara or San Jose instead (if I made it to Emeryville or Oakland, I'd figure I could get to Sacramento, too), but the schedule doesn't quite match up with what I'd be doing that Friday, and I'm already a little guilty about ducking out the moment it's all over that day.
