Your ideal DBT set list

Post by OkieinTexas »

With the first leg of the EO tour posted, it made me curious about something. What would your ideal set list be? I don't intend this to be a list of favorite DBT songs, as I think there is a difference, especially given the band's current lineup. I checked the last few tour dates of 2013 and I settled on 22 songs as the limit, including encore. Please take into account song sequence. I can't wait to see what you guys (and gals) come up with. However, if everyone thinks this is stupid let's just blame this thread on Clams.

17. My Sweet Annette
18. Sound Better in the Song

20 song set, 7 song encore sounds about right. I could try to work with that :D

I don't know what my ideal setlist would be but I'd love to see them get away from the predictability of the "Angels/People Who Died/Buttholeville" encore. I'm not sure how everyone else feels but to these ears, it ran it's course long ago.

I'm predicting "Grand Canyon" to be the new closer this year. But, I don't think PHD or B-ville will be leaving the set any time soon.

I just want ONE show (preferably PRE-ANNOUNCED) where they play "Greenville To Baton Rouge".
It would kill me if I missed my ONE chance to see it performed live.

Ideally, it would happen in Greenville for purely selfish reasons :)

I'm still chasing a show containing Daddy's Cup, so as long as that's in the set list I'm good with anything else they play :)

I don't know about my entire setlist, but it would surely include Tales Facing Up and especially Daddy's Cup, Cottonseed and One of These Days.

Having seen the boys in both Greenville (2) and Baton Rouge I thought maybe I would get it......obviously still chasing. Tis really the only one I am chasing.

Homecoming special:

First set:

English Oceans in order

Second Set:

Birthday Boy
Puttin People on the Moon
Gravity's Gone
Living Bubba
Women W/out Whiskey
Righteous Path
Uncle Frank
Lookout Mountain
Marry Me
Hell No I Ain't Happy

Encore:

Heathens (acoustic, just Hood & Cooley)
Space City (acoustic, just Hood & Cooley)
Aftermath USA
Daddy's Cup
Let There Be Rock
Zip City
Mercy Buckets

I had a whole acoustic set w/ some of the more countryish stuff in there but I decided to take pity on the guys figuring this is already a 3 hour show. At least this way it's almost realistic lol.

Could we add to this some or all of the bonus tracks? I don't know for a fact what'd be on there, but after hearing them last April at Patterson's shows, I'm really wanting to hear Dragon Pants and especially Rock Solid Kind of Dude with the band. Especially Rock Solid Kind of Dude.

The posts about the stream this weekend have me jonesing to make an ideal "semi-realistic" setlist! I'm thinking along the lines of an English Oceans tour show.

Grand Canyon (seems like it should be here or as a closer, and I have other preferences for show closers)
Primer Coat
Lookout Mountain
Where the Devil Don't Stay
Dead, Drunk and Naked
Guitar Man Upstairs
Pauline Hawkins
Made up English Oceans
The Part of Him
Shit Shots Count
Sinkhole
Cartoon Gold
Hanging On
The Weakest Man (I've gotta be the only one with this on my ideal set list)
Til He's Dead or Rises
Used to be a Cop
The Living Bubba
Uncle Frank
Tornadoes
----------------------
Natural Light (Cooley crooning center stage accompanied by Jay on piano) (I said "semi-realistic", remember)
--brief break for Cooley to change out of leisure suit and for the smoke to clear--
Girls who smoke
One of these Days
Hell No I Ain't Happy
When the Pin Hits the Shell
Do it Yourself
Women Without Whiskey
Let There Be Rock
Shut up and Get on the Plane
Angels and Fuselage

I do believe I strayed from "semi-realistic", but this was my first try at this kind of thing

I'm good with their decisions on what songs to play except I want to catch Daddy's Cup. I've been chasing it for a long time. I can't believe Cooley will just never play it again. It seems like he has several that he almost never plays. Last year at Homecoming I offered to mow his yard if he would play Daddy's Cup. He didn't take the bait but the offer still stands and ill throw in some top notch moonshine this year. Hey it can't hurt to throw it out there.

My ideal DBT set list would be comprised exclusively of songs from the first 7 albums, and no songs from the last 3 albums. Just my opinion.
